Sorry that is very churlish 😆

If he had kicked straight into touch its a scrum - no time left for the scrum. Game over - draw.

I don't believe that to be the case
The Welsh could simply have asked for the drop out to be taken again

a_a, very valid points re the ref there. Am sure there were similar on the other side, as you say.

Right, on to the next one, is it? This could be good....!

Yep ref was very poor and his scrum interpretation was unfathomable.

Once the starting dropout goes into touch after 80 mins then the game ends at that point. No retake, no scrum. You cannot have either after the 80 mins.

Williams was not a penalty for being tackled in the air as he called mark - the game stops when the mark is called. No penalty. If he hadn't called mark then it would have been a penalty

Sorry TJ but you can
If the ball is kicked straight into touch, the play hasn't finished
If it could be done, it would have been, this time & plenty of other times

TJ, it's still a penalty for a tackle in the air, as that's the law. That should have been given as a penalty over and above the mark being called.

Maybe uplink - but what I originally meant was to kick it towards the touchline to play the ball into touch anyway possible. I have never seen a kick off taken after 80 mins before.

CFH - surely the game stops as the mark is called?

I think you are right tho that the ref missed it

Thats shite, they tackled him in the air with the advantage being played its a pen, you cant penalise wales just cause he still caught it. Ref didnt blow till he got the nod from the touch judge to confirm it was a mark, so the game didnt stop.

could still be deemed as dangerous play,
same as;
he hit the player in the face when the clock had stopped, so no sending off????

TJ another thing to ponder

From the IRB handbook

"The referee should be considered ‘the sole judge of fact and of law during a match’ from the toss before the match with the captains until the final whistle. The referee therefore keeps the time and the score,

ie - it's up to the ref when it finishes, no one else

France are looking dangerous early on. Great handling, pop passes off the shoulder.

We threw it away with ill discipline and panic at the end. I am so disappointed as our 1st half had been great. Who would have made Dan Parks man of the match before the game. TJ?

More composure from Lamont would have converted that overlap, if Dan Parks hadn't missed that drop goal. What if, what if. Sod it, we lost. We should have won.

Lets look at the good; line breaks again and more support, good control of the game and fantastic defence for 73 minutes.

And the bad; stupid ill discipline and panic at the end.

Overall I would have loved to have won but am still proud of how we played for most of the game.

Truly gutted after the Scotland / Wales game.

I was screaming for Blair to kick it out. No idea why he did not. With 13 men and Wales buoyant it was the only senible choice.

Never seen a game thrown away like that

Sigh.......

If he had kicked it directly into touch it would have been retaken or scrum, would have had to land in play 1st. Not that easy, particularly with no recognised 10 left on the pitch.

That was a nasty challenge by the Irish hooker, he is lucky to still be on the pitch.

Here is hoping Ireland don't ship 17 points in the 10 mins.

He'll be cited and banned for that, IMO. And rightly so.

Rightly so. Indiscipline costs games. Flannery has got a man injured off the pitch and he's still there. That's not fair, so the try that France are about to get is some reward. Not enough, if you ask me. Not enough.

Flannery should be off.

Great game though...from the two best sides in the competition. Well done O'Gara. Should be level really. Too many knock-ons from the green machine.

****...roll on half time though.

Irish commnentator on the Beeb was just saying that there "nothing between the teams really". I beg to differ.

France look very very good today.

Darcy, it should not be level. It should be 15-14. As in the number of players per side on the pitch.

Ref didn't see it, only touch judge.

French looking rather good with their tails up. Glad I have a few of them in my ESPNfantasy league.

Need BOD and Kearney to start performing now!

That was a penalty, as awarded! Nothing dangerous or malicious in it....Unlike Flannery! If the TJ saw it (not our TJ, of course!) then it should have been a yellow. No quibble about it.

Holding in the ruck? Well, it's part of the game. Get caught, give away a penalty.

Thanks for your fourth ref judgement there Flashy. I'll go with that. Flannery's muppetry turned the game I reckon...retrospective punishment coming his way for sure.
