We will be in touch
local club is doing a bit of a fun run 5mile time trial tomorrow instead of training, pretty sure it will be a fairly flat course but if not i will still have a good idea of the terrain and whats coming.
never done anything like this, anyone got any tips?
Have you done much running? If not, I'd say take it very easy, and screw the results.
i find running boring!!! could you not take your bike?
Warm up. Get your heart and lungs working.Bit of a jog to finish.
At start try to get up to race pace as soon as poss. Miles 2 - 4 ish settle down to 'hanging on'speed. Last mile give it the lot, no point saving anything. Finish. Aaaand relax. Warm down jog. Stretch. Well done, job done. Hth. ;0)
If you are planning on actually going for it, MrSparkle's plan has a lot to recommend it. Especially the warm up bit, 5-10 min of gentle jogging to get your legs ready. I prefer walking for the warm down bit, but either way don't just stop.
cheers guys. found out the route last night and not the one i thought, its the reguar weekly run i've been doing. 2 miles down, 3 up. a hard one, but would be ineteresting to be timed so i can measure progress in the future.
but then sods law, thought i was suffering a bit yesterday evening from being in a room with a dehumidifier running all day, circiuts last night had me shivering on the warm down - thought it was just a cold hall - and woke this morning with a stinking cold. great!
Start off fast, speed up a bit in the middle, sprint the finish.
