hmm, I'm a newcastle fan, and TBH I say take the money and run, but thats the problem, Mike Ashley will take the money and run, forgetting to invest any of it back into the team in the summer.

is he THAT good?

No.
He is English though, so you have to pay the over-inflated price for a talented Englishman. Frankly it is no surprise managers bring players in from abroad when they are made to pay over the odds for the equivalent, or worse, English born player.

Poor Andy Caroll. Frying pan? Fire?

Hi Andy. Remember the comedy-managed club you were playing for. The one run by a buffoon who promised one thing but spectacularly failed to deliver? The laughing stock of the premiership? The one trading on past glories that has won **** all in living memory?

Well, forget all that. Welcome to......

😀

Still a pretty poor deal.

I'm staggered that Newcastle turned down £30m tbh.

Me too, but to be fair, it'll look like pretty good business if they get £35m.

When the two biggest comedy outfits of the league attempt to do business with one another, lols ensue. Difficult to say what's funnier, the RS for offering that much, or Newcastle for initially turning it down.

Price aside Carroll could be a great player - he'll go on to do very well at the tin mine IMO.

Darren Bent is the top goal scorer in the premiership over the last three seasons madness to pay that for Carrol who is is not even fully fit. Also appears to have temperamental issues and be a bit of a fighter ...if he was not so tall I would think he was Elfin's long lost son
Panic buy IMHO

...oh and lets not forget Carroll is currently injured with a torn thigh muscle and has missed the last 5 games.

Even more bargain-tastic.

As long as Carroll to 'pool means Torres to Chelski means Sturridge to Bolton then happy days. Crazy money, though but.

As a Newcastle fan it wouldn't shock me if Ashley buggered up the team again, he gets rid of a good manager, and then a good player. I don't think the guy really has a scooby. If Carroll stays great, if he goes, good luck to him but Newcastle will miss him.

I wonder what money Carroll will end up on, they must be offering alot of money to him as he seems like quite a prud Geordie...
As a Newcastle fan I'd love him to stay, as he's quite good (but 35mill good?!?) and I have NO faith that any of that money will go back into the squad...not sure where our goals for the rest of the season will come from.

And Liverpool is such a poor choice for him, seems a shame he can't go to a decent team 😉

As a Liverpool fan, I'm hating seeing one of the best strikers in the world leaving and joining a team that is seemingly throwing money around and buying whoever they please (man city is another one).

"Just give them whatever they ask for, what ever you do get that player"!
Plus, leaving it until the last few hours of the transfer window, when they have had all month to put an offer in. Forcing panic buying of strikers as clubs havnt any replacements inline!

Neither as I saw your sarcasm, but, I think you misunderstood me in thinking I was hating on Torres, when I was in fact hating on Chelsea which is partly due to me hating on Ashley Cole.

Your sarcasm was built on a lie son!

He owns the club it's his money to do what he wants with.As fans (me included ) we sometimes forget that it's not our club we just pay to be entertained.

As soon as Torres said he wanted to go I thought they should get Carroll in. Yes its a lot of money but there's a lot of potential there and im pretty sure he won't be 'doing a torres' in a couple of years. He reminds me of a young Duncan ferguson, which is no bad thing as in Suarez we have a cracking player to play just off him, and that'd be pretty scary for any defence.

It shows the new owners mean business and if it comes off I'll be pretty exited and willing Torres to get his arse down south.

Plus I'll laugh my head off if torres' hamstrings go again, which i think they will!

Uh-Oh.

4.41pm: OK: some new news on Carroll. Sky are reporting that the second, improved, bid for Carroll has been rejected. The man from the cut-price sports shop: he says no. What does this mean? Are they holding out for more? Is the Torres move now stymied? It's implausibly tangled.

Anyway... this is all very well, but i think we all know that there's only one opinion counts here on the subject of scouseness. Where's Elfin/Fred?

Fred.... Given that Liverpool ended up so dire a team due to the previous manager/owners spunking away millions of quid on ridiculously over-valued players, what does this tell us about the new direction of the new owners/manager at Anfield?

Feel free to use any world war 1 'over the top' analogies. You know... if we do the same thing we've done the last twenty times, that's the last thing anyone will expect 😉

If that is the case, Liverpool should sell Torres and just use Suarez till the end of the season. Then spend in the summer when more available for less money.

1652: Wow. A twist in the Andy Carroll saga - and it's a biggie - despite reports earlier that Newcastle had accepted a Liverpool bid for the 22-year-old striker (see 1513), it seems they actually rejected the Reds' second offer too. Just SIX HOURS of the transfer window left for the two clubs to work that one out - and how much does it rely on Fernando Torres completing his move to Chelsea too. We will find out, soon enough...

Probably just haggling though.
