....ok he is good, but is he THAT good?
Elfin will be happy.

Sheer insanity imo - basically Torres for Carroll 😕
...and £15m if Chelsea pay the rumoured £50m for Torres.
hmm, I'm a newcastle fan, and TBH I say take the money and run, but thats the problem, Mike Ashley will take the money and run, forgetting to invest any of it back into the team in the summer.
Carroll,s never worth that, but with suarez coming it might be the start of a toshack/keegan like partnership.Heres hoping anyway.
£35m 🙄
is he THAT good?
No.
He is English though, so you have to pay the over-inflated price for a talented Englishman. Frankly it is no surprise managers bring players in from abroad when they are made to pay over the odds for the equivalent, or worse, English born player.
Poor Andy Caroll. Frying pan? Fire?
Hi Andy. Remember the comedy-managed club you were playing for. The one run by a buffoon who promised one thing but spectacularly failed to deliver? The laughing stock of the premiership? The one trading on past glories that has won **** all in living memory?
Well, forget all that. Welcome to......
😀
£17.5m per elbow?
He's got the same surname as me.
GO ON SON!
Football agents must be creaming themselves 🙂
...and £15m if Chelsea pay the rumoured £50m for Torres.
Still a pretty poor deal.
I'm staggered that Newcastle turned down £30m tbh.
I'm staggered that Newcastle turned down £30m tbh.
Me too, but to be fair, it'll look like pretty good business if they get £35m.
When the two biggest comedy outfits of the league attempt to do business with one another, lols ensue. Difficult to say what's funnier, the RS for offering that much, or Newcastle for initially turning it down.
Price aside Carroll could be a great player - he'll go on to do very well at the tin mine IMO.
Darren Bent is the top goal scorer in the premiership over the last three seasons madness to pay that for Carrol who is is not even fully fit. Also appears to have temperamental issues and be a bit of a fighter ...if he was not so tall I would think he was Elfin's long lost son
Panic buy IMHO
...oh and lets not forget Carroll is currently injured with a torn thigh muscle and has missed the last 5 games.
Even more bargain-tastic.
As long as Carroll to 'pool means Torres to Chelski means Sturridge to Bolton then happy days. Crazy money, though but.
As a Newcastle fan it wouldn't shock me if Ashley buggered up the team again, he gets rid of a good manager, and then a good player. I don't think the guy really has a scooby. If Carroll stays great, if he goes, good luck to him but Newcastle will miss him.
hahahahahahahahaha
ridiculous.
I wonder what money Carroll will end up on, they must be offering alot of money to him as he seems like quite a prud Geordie...
As a Newcastle fan I'd love him to stay, as he's quite good (but 35mill good?!?) and I have NO faith that any of that money will go back into the squad...not sure where our goals for the rest of the season will come from.
And Liverpool is such a poor choice for him, seems a shame he can't go to a decent team 😉
Makes you hate Chelsea just that bit more...
Makes you hate Chelsea just that bit more...
Why? Not that a reason is needed of course...
As a Liverpool fan, I'm hating seeing one of the best strikers in the world leaving and joining a team that is seemingly throwing money around and buying whoever they please (man city is another one).
"Just give them whatever they ask for, what ever you do get that player"!
Plus, leaving it until the last few hours of the transfer window, when they have had all month to put an offer in. Forcing panic buying of strikers as clubs havnt any replacements inline!
I'm hating seeing one of the best strikers in the world leaving
Who's that then? I thought it was just Fernando Torres leaving? 😉
Turtleheading, they could just tell chelski to "get stuffed, he isn't for sale".
n'est-ce pas?
Why? Not that a reason is needed of course...
With Torres, that really hateable player playing for them... 🙄

fixed that for you
With Torres, that really hateable player playing for them...
Torres seems like quite a decent chap. Whatchyoutalkingbout?
Carrol is of course currently injured having fallen off a casino stool while doing jaegerbombs.......
tosser
also, he could possible end up with a custodial sentence

Which one of us has switched off her sarcastometer? ❓
Which one of us has switched off her sarcastometer?
Neither as I saw your sarcasm, but, I think you misunderstood me in thinking I was hating on Torres, when I was in fact hating on Chelsea which is partly due to me hating on Ashley Cole.
Your sarcasm was built on a lie son!
Your sarcasm was built on a lie son!
Your lie was built on hate. So there.
Mike Ashley will take the money and run, forgetting to invest any of it back into the team in the summer.
He owns the club it's his money to do what he wants with.As fans (me included ) we sometimes forget that it's not our club we just pay to be entertained.

As soon as Torres said he wanted to go I thought they should get Carroll in. Yes its a lot of money but there's a lot of potential there and im pretty sure he won't be 'doing a torres' in a couple of years. He reminds me of a young Duncan ferguson, which is no bad thing as in Suarez we have a cracking player to play just off him, and that'd be pretty scary for any defence.
It shows the new owners mean business and if it comes off I'll be pretty exited and willing Torres to get his arse down south.
Plus I'll laugh my head off if torres' hamstrings go again, which i think they will!
This is one scouser who is thinking the future is looking brighter after a dark couple of years!!!
which is no bad thing as in Suarez we have a cracking player to play just off him
Plus Suarez is also a cracking [url=

Uh-Oh.
4.41pm: OK: some new news on Carroll. Sky are reporting that the second, improved, bid for Carroll has been rejected. The man from the cut-price sports shop: he says no. What does this mean? Are they holding out for more? Is the Torres move now stymied? It's implausibly tangled.
- Guardian
And we could do with getting [s]Jan molby lite[/s] Adam in too.
Plus Suarez is also a cracking keeper.
Justified in the end though.
Anyway... this is all very well, but i think we all know that there's only one opinion counts here on the subject of scouseness. Where's Elfin/Fred?
Fred.... Given that Liverpool ended up so dire a team due to the previous manager/owners spunking away millions of quid on ridiculously over-valued players, what does this tell us about the new direction of the new owners/manager at Anfield?
Feel free to use any world war 1 'over the top' analogies. You know... if we do the same thing we've done the last twenty times, that's the last thing anyone will expect 😉
Loony Toons have rejected £35 million !
If that is the case, Liverpool should sell Torres and just use Suarez till the end of the season. Then spend in the summer when more available for less money.
1652: Wow. A twist in the Andy Carroll saga - and it's a biggie - despite reports earlier that Newcastle had accepted a Liverpool bid for the 22-year-old striker (see 1513), it seems they actually rejected the Reds' second offer too. Just SIX HOURS of the transfer window left for the two clubs to work that one out - and how much does it rely on Fernando Torres completing his move to Chelsea too. We will find out, soon enough...

Probably just haggling though.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/31/andy-carroll-liverpool-newcastle-transfer
Nothing definite in that story though Loddrik.
It will more than likely go though I imagine.
I think that Chelsea are taking a huge risk signing Torres for that amount of money given his injury record in recent seasons - good bit of business.
If Carrol comes in and plays alongside Suarez and they do well then that's even better business.
Just this second sky sports news says Newcastle has definitely 'reluctantly' accepted liverpools offer for Carroll in the last few minutes.
I was hoping they would let Chelsea buy Torres then unplug the phone leaving Liverpool .......................
Sky sports news - Charlie Adam in car on way to Liverpool.
1726: BREAKING NEWS: LIVERPOOL ANNOUNCE THEY HAVE AGREED A FEE FOR NEWCASTLE STRIKER ANDY CARROLL
OOOOH wonder how much?
£30mil was crazy, £35mil was ridiculous so i'm guessing it has to be something utterly unbeleivable!
Just to put things into perspective...well....relatively speaking of course.
5.33pm: More on the Fenway purchase of Carroll from Bobby Otter from the University of Chicago: "Actually you shouldn't be surprised by the Andy Carroll signing/offer/whatever it is right now. The Fenway guys just spent $142m on a left-fielder (Carl Crawford) over the next seven years and are going to resign a first baseman (Adrian Gonzalez) for probably about the same amount of money. So $56m for a young striker is next to nothing for these guys." Fair point, Bobby. Shall we leave Newcastle and Liverpool and Chelsea alone for a bit and look elsewhere?
You've gotta love the way the plastic scousers on here are trying to put any kind of positive spin on what is essentially a :-
Carroll plus £15m for Torres deal.
You lot think Dalglish is some kind of saviour ????????????
The worst deal in Prem history I reckon.
THey could get Andy Murray for less. The number of times he hits the net would make it a good investment.
(Apologies to random tweeter/twit)
lets hope ashley does the right thing.....
although i watched carroll's interview on football focus a few weeks ago and he was gushing about the love of NUFC, the no.9 shirt, etc...........
EVERYBODY has a price..........
EVERYBODY has a price..........
With this in mind, I would like to say I am available for the bargain price of £3m.
Does this then mean the Newcastle Uniteds don't have a main kicker anymore?
You've gotta love the way the plastic scousers on here are trying to put any kind of positive spin on what is essentially a :-Carroll plus £15m for Torres deal.
Um...... where?
Jamie, that baseball reference is for wages though, not a transfer fee, so it isn't comparable.
Carroll is the most overrated player in the Premiership. I think Kenny has lost it a bit.
Newcastle/Ashley will take the money and run.....laughing.
He's injured, regularly in bother with polis, has an ego the size of a large thing and is a bit of a tosser to boot.
Good luck Liverpoool!
regularly in bother with polis, has an ego the size of a large thing and is a bit of a tosser to boot.Good luck Liverpoool!
He should fit right in.
Um...... where?
Here for starters
I think that Chelsea are taking a huge risk signing Torres for that amount of money given his injury record in recent seasons - good bit of business. If Carrol comes in and plays alongside Suarez and they do well then that's even better business
They should buy Peter Crouch back. I'm sure 'arry would be amenable to a deal.
Underrated that bloke, just cos he looks a bit funny.
The worst deal in Prem history I reckon.
Really. THE worst? Are you sure?
Name a worserer piece and see if you can change my mind.
Owen Hargreaves to Man U?
Not that he is a bad player, by any stretch, just he has hardly played due to his appalling injury record.
Veron, also to united?
Francis Jeffers to Arsenal?
That bloke that was a cousin of George Weah, signed sight unseen and was utter crap.
that's just bad luck, not bad business from the start.
Sorry, bunged in a few other possibles in an edit...
Take your point on Hargreaves. Was he injury prone before he signed?
This has to be the winner:
George Weah's ""cousin"":
The Premiership has just jumped the shark.

John Utaka to Pompey for £8m on wages of £30k a week.

Shevchenko to Chelsea ?
No need to put a positive spin on Carroll. He is a cracking prospect who should develop into a serious cf. Yes the fee is a little high but if we hadn't paid it, make no mistake someone else would have. As for having an attitude problem, he is young and will mature, I had a shocking attitude in my early 20s, but you grow up...
If you look at the idiot man city bought in, balotelli, Carroll looks like a safe bet. Carroll will likely be englands no 1 striker in the coming years without doubt. (though I cannot stand England)
El Haj Diouf to all the clubs he's been to - complete tosser!
Kenny Dalglish plays no part in the transfer dealings at Liverpool FC. It's not part of his remit as caretaker manager.
+1 on diouff, one of the buys which heralded houliers demise. An absolute dickhead!!!
Name a worserer piece and see if you can change my mind.
Jonathan Woodgate to anyone ? He is always injured and turned down a loan move to Wolves as he would rather sit o his ass collecting the dosh.
bloody celebrities ... 🙄
I do feel sorry for the toon though and I hope they manage to get someone decent in before the window closes. They are a decent club with good fans, unlike Chelsea, a modest sized club with fickle fans bankrolled by vanity money...
I'd hate to see Newcastle suffer as a result. Crouch is a cracking player if you get him in. I really wish he hadn't left Liverpool.
Ok so far there have been some pretty ropey deals. I could add Bosko Balaban at Villa from bitter experience.
However, none of them compare with the Torres/Carroll thing because :
At the end of the day LFC are paying £35m for Carrol, a player who has played only half a season in the top flight and scored 11 times in the Prem. That in itself would be a catastrophic piece of business. However, for the privelidge of aquiring Carroll and enough cash for a reserve international right back, LFC are losing a striker with the best strike rate in Prem history to a team that they would have aspirations to compete with.
