WooHoo. I’m down 2kg already (I’ll caveat that by saying I always fail miserably at this). I’ve lost then regained 16kg in the last couple of years but this time I’m trying Fasting as a way of reducing calorie intake. First 24hr fast yesterday and it was surprisingly easy. For me I think it’s going to be the easiest way to keep out the biscuit cupboard!

Spreadsheet working fine for me (using Microsoft Edge). I can edit the start and target columns and see all columns, any issues message me and I will put in details.

Regarding the earlier questions:

"1) weigh in on Friday I thought I got but this raises the question is there a specific time it needs to be in by or something, ie do I need to weigh in before I go to work or just at some (reasonably consistent) point on Friday?"

No specific time required, entirely up to you. I weigh myself first thing on a Friday morning. I put the scales on the bathroom floor tiles and weight myself naked before a morning shower, you want a repeatable method.

"2) I assume I just bang the updated number into the spreadsheet or do I need to do something else with it?"

Just put the numbers in and start tracking your target weight loss, you have the "5 week target" in column "J", this will give a shorter term target. The overall "target weight" is for Friday 24th March (week 12).

3) i assume I’m avoiding Full Fat Friday and replacing it with Full Fasted Friday but beyond that sort of thing and the above, am I supposed to be doing anything else?

I had very good success with the 8/16hr diet, eat anything you like in an 8hr period (any 8hr period, you can choose). I ate only between 9am-5pm and mixed in regular exercise, I did this for 5 days a week and enjoyed the weekends, this worked really well. I would recommend cutting out all sugar and cutting back on dairy produce.

I tried intermittent fasting in the 2020 CC- got from 86kg to 79kg over 7 months. Then a change of jobs and just before Xmas 22 I was back to 86kg.

Best way to to keep out of the biccie cupboard is to have none in there!

👍

Weigh in tonight then.

The first few kg I think I'll manage with some dietary modifications (stop eating crap, individual portions not family ones) but the second few are likely to require rather more physical effort me thinks.

Best way to to keep out of the biccie cupboard is to have none in there!

Thankfully my wife is very good at ensuring that temptation is removed in short order!

I’m sure everyone has a method that works best for them but I’ve taken interest in a visual food logging app called “Ate”.

Basically take a picture of everything that passes your lips. As a secret snacker I find it makes me feel more accountable, especially as you can connect with others and see each others food habits throughout the day. Nobody wants a log full of pictures of biscuits now do they…

Same here using the laptop. On the phone the initial columns are hidden and can't seem to scroll to them. But it is an SE with an small screen.

I’m in again, and will likely have the fattest position – again.

Height will be a factor. There's a few with similar weight to me but I'm only 173cm tall so am well & truly a fat bastard when I get to 86kg. Anyone taller than me for the same weight won't look as porky as I do.

And I'm in - 87.4kg at an alleged 26.5% bodyfat, if my aging scales are to be believed. Aiming for 80kg to keep the weight loss steady and more achievable. I'd like to be 75KG eventually.

I'm 177cm tall - combination of medication and falling into bad habits that I can no longer get away with at my age have meant that I've pile it on this last year, and while I'm not huge, I'm finding it harder to do stuff I used to enjoy, and the internal damage I may be doing to myself needs addressing!

Totally agree but my kids would kill me!!

Are you me!? I’m exactly the same. On medication for the rest of my days with the most common side affect being weight gain. I have to run to stand still on the weight front!!

I am in, really need to lose some weight as I can't be bothered to go buy more jeans when I have a load that just don't fit anymore.

The weekly weight loss guide is monthly surely on the spreadsheet?

Might be good for a weekly and a monthly column?

I subscribe to Garfield's mantra, "I'm not overweight, I'm under tall"

Basically take a picture of everything that passes your lips. As a secret snacker I find it makes me feel more accountable, especially as you can connect with others and see each others food habits throughout the day. Nobody wants a log full of pictures of biscuits now do they…

so don't publish them.....

I'm finding eating little & often helps. Keeping track of calories etc on my fitness pal showed I was okish for calories overall but had too many carbs vs protein.

Even when intermittent fasting & doing lots of HIIT in 2020 Mon-Fri, I'd have crunchy nut cornflakes as a breakfast treat at the weekend. It's sugar traffic light was yellow so I wasn't too bothered because of missing breakfast in the week I could indulge myself. However, I then saw that the traffic light was based on a portion of (IIRC) 30g. I weighed that out & it was about 2 mouthfuls. My usual serving was 3x bigger.

Since I've reviewed my diet in mid Dec I've gone from 86.5kg to 80.5kg today. It took longer to do via IF and I'm eating more. Eating better & regularly has helped with cravings so I can open cupboards with the kids crap and not be tempted to apply Dad Tax to their rations.

For meals I'm sticking to carbs being no bigger than my fist, protein the size of an open hand and as many veg as I want.

In 2020 Chub Club it took 6-8 months to go from borderline obese to normal BMI, I hoping I may be at that stage by the end of Feb.

@FB-ATB

Same goes for calorie tracking. Just don’t track them. You’ll only be cheating yourself.

It helps being a bit OCD about logging these things and I certainly tick that box!

My OCD thing on weight loss is to weigh myself every day, at the same time each day. It's amazing how much your weight can fluctuate while still trending down. I was looking back at my 2021 weight loss and there would be weeks where if I weighed myself weekly, I would see zero change. Only looking at the daily values you'd see a downward trend. I would imagine weekly weighs would be so demoralising!

Ooo I am in. was a bit quiet last year but I have been slowly bring the weight down. Start of 2020 I was 115kg and I am now 98.7. Slowly slowly has been key for me.

Now in training for the Sheffield Half Marathon so hoping that will help me make the next shift downwards. Another 6-10kg this year would be immense 🙂

In dire need to address my weight. Haven’t weighed myself since the days of the Zwift league and got down to 77kg October 2021. One year later of not weighing myself, a new job where bike time as been severely reduced, cakes seem to be the currency of choice plus working alongside a feeder lead to an increase of 88kg by this October. Followed by a weeks all inclusive holiday and Xmas over feeding I found a new 17 year all time peak weight of 92kg last Monday morning.

This forced me back onto a slow carb diet from 4 hour body and may become full blown keto diet once I’ve got too eating less.

Down to 88kg in the 6 days but expect some fluid loss amongst that. Trying to step up the gym and cycling but energy is pretty low at the moment. Will keep plugging away, target weight is too dip around 76 and level out at 78 once carbs are reintroduced.

Wow- doubling your body weight! That’s some dedication to pies & cake

1kg heavier this morning compared to yesterday morning 😅

Think I’ve seen a 2.5kg fluctuation from one day to the next in the past but that was after a really really big ride so probably just dehydration. Probably explains the difference between today and yesterday too.

Depends where they live 🙂

I am going to be down this week but by how much I don't know. Half marathon training definitely helping and I am really trying to watch what I eat whilst still feeling like I have a life!

0.6kg down, a good start. Probably helped by having a bit of a stomach bug earlier in the week but whatever works!

1.5kg down. Really pleased with that. My wife and daughter went veggie at the end of October but myself and other daughter didn’t. However I’ve made a conscious effort to try to join them more often so had quite a few veggie meals. Also doing dry January which is also a significant factor as well as starting a Zwift training programme.

Dropped just under half a kilo which I am pleasantly surprised by. One of my team came back from holiday in Switzerland and gave me a massive bar of milka. After dispatching that I thought I would have gone up!

Away this week so no official number for me but did one last night for a (hopefully) bit of a morale boost after dropping a whole 200g last week.

Pleased with the number last night but equally a bit miffed as I'm now into "hard work, more hard work diet and more hard work" to get my my target weight. Was rather hoping to have another week or so of "diet and a bit a of work"

Seeing small gains which is great and a real motivation in the first few weeks. I'm sure it'll flatline at some point and that's when the mental battel will begin for me.
I've set up a half marathon running plan stolen from the internet, not sure if i'll sign up yet but it's in May so i'm using it for some structure in my week to stick to in the meantime.

Bump up the height and weight, and removed the meds on MCTDs post and that's pretty much line for line my scenario. Having Chub Club and a running goal is helping keep my health at the forefront of my mind so i can make a conscious effort each day. And popping on this thread to see others going through the same ups and downs helps remind me i'm not alone in this.

Good luck all.

It's OK, I've found your 400g!

Been a mad week going back to work, diet a little cleaner I thought, but Scout meetings every night this week, have meant no time to exercise.

Onwards and downwards!

Down 0.8kgs in the first week which I'm happy with. Tracking my daily weight shows a good downward trend already so just need to hold the line and be consistent, especially in the first month!

Down a bit but not as much as I'd like. My own fault - pigged out a bit last couple of days. Still down is down and I've stayed under 100kg since October which is better than I've done for many many years. Plus I've kept weight off better taking a very slow approach to things - so long as I get there in the end 🙂

2.7kg for me, first week, but I suspect its maybe fluid loss. I am doing the 16//8 fasting method. Seems to be working and most importantly easy to stick to. Time will tell.

Down 0.5Kg which is pretty good as had my Daughters Birthday at the weekend. Very happy and cutting out lots of the Christmas Rubbish makes me feel better inside even if the weight loss is tiny. First time I have joined the Chub club so hoping the weekly weigh in will keep me motivated to keep at it and make it the norm.

Down 3kg first week wich was anomaly probably due to water weight on initial weighing (huge Chinese takeaway the night before!)
Down 2kg this week.
Fasted cardio, 16/8. Not eating any crap or drinking any booze. Plenty of protein, walking, and a bit of running/riding also.

I've dropped a fair bit of weight using these methods in the past so I know they are effective if applied consistently.

V. happy with progress so far. Just got to keep it going.

Not a good start so far. Managed to register a 1KG loss at the start of the week but evenings out etc the last few days have pushed it back up again. Trying a simple calorie deficit approach (2500 KCAL a day based on estimated energy expenditure minus 20%).

Down 1.8kg this week and 4kg since Christmas. I'm trying fasting twice a week and have been impressed so far. I'm currently on 41hrs without food and feel better than I've felt for a long time!! Going to stick with 2x24hr fasts per week but. I've been eating about 2k calories a day but if you add in my fasted days my average drops to 1200. I would never be able to reduce my calorie intake on a daily basis so the fasting is going to suit me well! I let you know if I keel over!!

Only down 0.6kg in the first week, but I've polished off the last of the Christmas cheese & mince pies, so at least I won't have that to tempt me.

Going up after an initial drop

Hoping it's a blip.

84.5kg

I'm taking that as a little win.
Only 0.2 down, but I've upped the exercise by running a few times and done a couple of bike comutes and feeling better.
Next step, sorting out the refueling.

Looked at mine and I'd put on 2KG, which I know is not true.
Realised I'd put the starting weight in wrong, so now reflects the true loss of 100g.

Might require more dedication !
