Is there a rule that the "front man" is an utterly hateable **** and the wrench the polar opposite?

It's TV. The producers think that format is entertainment. Does your rule include car sos?

Not strictly a 2 man car show but Chasing Classic Cars imho breaks this rule.

Chasing Classic Cars

Who's the second man? Is that not just Wayne"monotone boring" carini ?

As far as car shows go. Fantomworks is my favourite. Despite the odd name they are about as "real world" as they come. As for wacky I'm a fan of welderups work. I just wish they would stop with " the Hogan's" drama.

Another good car related programme is 'Bangers and cash' on Yesterday, follows Mathewsons auctions selling off various retro/classic cars/bikes ect. Quite 'low key' telly, Nice guys and no made up drama

Just zone out while Brewer is waffling on WD. Dont mind Tim Shaw to be honest, though its always the spanner guys you'd rather watch

Youtube car shows seem to be better for watching spannering and welding these days. Some are dire but there are occasional gems, especially some of the other guys on Tavarish channel are hilarious.

Tim Shaw parts on car SOS are the reason I had to buy new remote.. can't stand the guy.

Not just 2 man car shows im afraid, the new Top Gear are guilty of this

Find Paddy McGuinness an annoying **** who just says stupid things, seems fake to me and over acts (the whole cowboy thing in the South America trip for example)

Love Chris Harris, mainly for his passion for cars and the fact he can pedal a car

Have come to like Freddy Flintoff, he's found his feet presenting after a few episodes and seems a genuinely good guy and up for anything

They should replace Paddy or just drop him altogether

That'd be Roger Barr. Not always on it though.

I only have cooncil tellie and CBA with YouTube.

SOS qualifies but isn't the worst. There is one exception with the ginger bearded bald guy and his sidekick where they are both ok.

Flipping Bangers on Blaze. Great TV with two really genuine nice mates trying to make money restoring older modern classics. Bless em don’t think they’ve made a profit yet but great to watch.
