Need some for a torch.
Been looking on ebay, would this be ok or better with more expensive ones?

Just remember, you get what you pay for.
Also, never buy GTL or any other battery that exaggerates the capacity by stupid amounts, best to just avoid ebay for those battery types.
Find out what the best name brand battery capacity is at the time and go from there.

Mine are regular TrustFire 900mAh that I got from dx.com, along with a generic 14500/18650 charger. Not expensive, and they seem to give a reasonable run time in my little TrustFire R5-A3 torch. Been using the same ones for a couple of years or so, and no complaints.
These are the ones I use: http://dx.com/p/trustfire-protected-14500-3-7v-900mah-rechargeable-lithium-batteries-2-pack-26124#.Uy9ybicgGK0
I've got three torches, so bought six batteries, still cost less than $18.
This charger ought to see you right, it'll do 18650, and a bunch of other battery types as well: http://dx.com/p/trustfire-tr-006-dual-slot-25500-26650-26700-18650-16340-battery-charger-ac-110-240v-163044#.Uy9zhicgGK0

For batteries, read this guy, then buy Panasonic 3100mAh from a genuine supplier.

http://www.torchythebatteryboy.com/p/18650-batteries-chargers.html

for chargers, buy this.

http://www.nitecore.co.uk/Shop/Products/Batteries-AND-Chargers/12347-Nitecore-Intellicharger-i4-V.2.html

All the chargers on DX are shit. That's the technical term, they are all underspecced, poorly designed, not fully heatsinked/ballasted and generally ready to kill you from the second you plug them in.

The panasonics and Nitecore might be far from the cheapest bits you can buy, but they do happen to be the best. I run a 1200lm light and one of Trouties original 2100lm lights.

Sq, we're not talking about 18650's we're talking about 14500, and I've got two or three TrustFire chargers, and they've been working fine for three or four years. As have the TrustFire and Ultrafire 18650 batteries in my bigger torches.
For 14500, I don't use anything other than TrustFire, and Torchy doesn't seem to have any issues with those.

Gotta love STW.

"I'd like some advice."

"Sure, here's some advice."

"Thanks, I think I'll now do something else entirely."

Cheers ๐Ÿ˜€
Seriously, I bought my little torches several years ago, I can't really remember now, it might even be four, and I got six batteries, the TrustFire ones, at the same time, and they've all been faultless, I'm still using them now, the torches are nearly always in little Fenix holsters on my belt, on various shorts, combats, jeans, etc, the perfect EDC torch.
I have got a few of those blue Ultrafire batteries, and I must admit, having read the stuff by Torchy, that they'll be retired very soon in favour of the TrustFire 18650; mine have been in use even longer than the 14500's without issue, so maybe, because mine are DX ones, are more trustworthy than eBay ones, I honestly don't know, but I'm not so trusting now.

I've 3 of the cheap ebay lights that I use for night riding and never had any issues, 2 have been in use for a couple of years now.

Maybe I've just been lucky

That's the one recommended earlier. At half price though, looks like a bargain if it's genuine.
