The price of the 7Mesh Men’s Thunder Pant is a major barrier – £350 is a good starter mountain bike – which is a pity as they have proven to be terrific.

That’s a bold choice for the name.
Parp!
One other thing @sanny didn't mention was 7mesh warranty which in my experience has been more than awesome! Yes it is pricey but like everyone else they do sales, appear on ebay etc
I had an issue with a second hand item from ebay and they were above and beyond good about fixing it up. Will save up and buy more of their kit as in my experience it has outlasted my Endura and Gore stuff exponential more times and has been much better too.

Good to hear. To be fair, your great experience does not surprise me. Ian at 7mesh was refreshingly open and honest when we chatted online about my review of their Skypilot jacket.
I was wearing their Freeflow jacket today. Lovely bit of kit.

Ps great forum name!
Good company and luv their gear. It is expensive, but sometimes you get what you pay for. Ethically running a company the way they are trying to do doesn't come cheap. As already said look at their sales offers when they happen, I picked up 4 items all 50% off just before Christmas (presents to me! 🙂 ), excellent kit.

the name is a bigger one
@sanny how was the butt area? I comprehensively wore through the seat of a pair of Endura waterproof 3/4s in the space of a month thanks to Peak grit and gave up on the concept. Ditto some Gore Windstopper 3/4s.
Oh, and did you find the fabric noisy? My experience of it for mountaineering shells is that it's tough, light and breathable, but makes a noise like having your head in a bowl of Rice Krispies, particularly with the hood up. Maybe with the fabric further from your ears, it's slightly less noticeable?
The 7Mesh guys are ex-Arc'teryx, I think, which is a pretty good recommendation in itself.
To be fair, they have outlasted all other trousers I have used but I do now use mudguards as well to minimize the grinding paste effect. The rustling noise is there but I barely notice it. Like I said in the review, I reckon they are the best on the market but they could be even better.
