I’m good for the Uber in the morning! Enjoying some wine and a nice three course Iranian themed meal.

Assuming that Brian cracked open the 10% beers and is no longer able to stand!

There is less climbing in Tuesdays race than there was in New York. It just looks more intimidating in France.

Forum lurker here and only really got into Zwift the past month or so.

I’ve been reading this thread loads, fair play to everyone riding that distance and elevation today.. think my furthest ride is about 30km so far 😂

Robbo if it’s ok I’ll add you on Zwift in a min, it would be good to join up and ride/race with other members.

Stupid question but how would i join races/rides when they are on through the week?

@rmprest just watch the zwift threads, there are a few but this is the main one for meet ups. Follow some of us on zwift and then we can send you an invite if you want to join any of the rides...just let us know on here.
Not all rides are as crazy as today, we also do shorter ones and always look after the group as today.
Come join in, don't be worried to get involved, best thing I did to get the most out of zwift

What's your zwift name and I can add you to upcoming invites?

There is a Tuesday race series which is handicapped. I just need your weight and ftp to work out your handicap.

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/stw-zwift-autumn-series-2/

There is also ttt in thursdays - all are welcome. That is organised by Savoyad on his thread.

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/zwift-team-time-trial-thursday/page/22/#post-11467948

Have a look through my friends list on Zwift - add anyone with a STW tag in their name. Add STW after your name and people will know you are from the forum.

There is a weekend morning ride pretty much every weekend but I don’t always organise so if you add the STW tag people know to invite you along.

@robbo1234biking brilliant thanks for all the info. I’ve just added about 40 STW people on Zwift so that should do the job. Oh and changed my username so it’s now Richard Morgan (STW)

Tuesday race series sound good, I’m 67kg and FTP is currently 195

Looking forward to getting involved !

really enjoyed today, much easier to do a big route in a group. Thanks for organizing Robbo. Would be up for either of the Pretzels or PRL. Have my 100 mile Zwift badge but didn't think of doing the PRL route when getting it.

Assuming that Brian cracked open the 10% beers and is no longer able to stand!

I resisted those, grabbed a couple of easier ones from the shop so had those. I was pretty much unconscious by 9pm, much of which I'm blaming on the work week but yesterday morning's ride out certainly didn't help!

I hope the uber is going well this morning.

Ha I was also in bed by 10pm last night, couldn't keep awake any longer.

Another long ride we could consider is the 25 lap volcano badge, it's a bit repetitive but should be better as a group and would benefit some drafting. It's around 100km in all.

I'm thinking short and flat at the moment, I'll start thinking up to long and hilly once I've a few days between me and the Horsemen

Morning all!

Sorry I stopped and bailed yesterday!
This ANT+ issue is weird (I'll stay a new thread! ), frustrating, and also really demotivating ....

For example.... I'm doing a workout this morning...all was fine.... power good, all ant+ connections fine..
Then... the PC does a "bleep bleep" like something has been unplugged.. and the mouse cursor comes up over zwift...and I lose everything....
But...!! If I minimise zwitt, and open trainer road (which wasn't open or running) I can connect/see my PM and HR etc....
Weird!

Also... I take the crank power as accurate, and it's what I use for ftp and training etc....
When that drops out (as, annoyingly... it's ANT+ ONLY) and I have to use BT and the turbo for power, it massively under reads..

305w on turbo is ACTUALLY 370ish watts according to the crank! I can't train, race, or keep that up!

Anyway... I've ordered a second hand 4iii power meter so I can use BT solely... and forget ant+ all together..

Is clearly a zwift issue, but they won't accept that!

One huge problem with zwift is it doesn't play nicely at all with things running in the background. Steam kills mine 5 times or of ten. Playing music will cause alt tab issues when tracks switch and the like, BT headphones are fine until they drop out /power down etc, at which point zwift loses all BT devices and needs restarting to find things.

That's a huge difference in power output according to the two devices. What are you using for the turbo? By comparison with your cranks a wheel off turbo should be more accurate as its basically a hub based meter (which are more accurate than cranks) on a stand.

Well done all for yesterday. Sorry I didn't make it, we had nice weather so it was a 5 hour hillwalk with the kids instead.

I think my ant+ issues last week were due to stuff running in the background, mainly garmin express which I thought I'd stopped but obviously hadn't. All running fine again now so hopefully I'll be back next weekend 😎

Hi gents

I had no issues on my iPad till updated to iOS 14 then it started dropping out regularly and I don’t thing it was Zwift as the pairing screen was saying I was connected but I wasn’t , then stated using Mac book but it wasn’t great (it’s 8 years old) so took the plunge and brought a dedicated gaming laptop and so far been great the detail is brilliant even get a front light.

I'll second that..a gaming pc makes the detail awesome!

Brian... it's a novo elite thing...

Maybe steam is an issue? Anyway... I like the crank pm for real world riding too...

I can't sink any more money into 'this' (!) So a wheel off turbo is out of the question!

I'm happy with the 1% accuracy a crank pm offers....
Once the 4iii turns up, I'll be happy again!

Brian… it’s a novo elite thing

Usually the wheel on one's read high! That's likely a setting thing but they're notoriously inaccurate.

I could, and should, adjust the trainer settings....

But it's cool... I'll move on the current PM to another bike, or sell it , and can carry on as normal again!

So Mega Vs Uber.

Based on my time on Saturday it would take me around 3h 55mins to complete the mega (greater distance - less climbing and the climbing is more spaced out for recovery time) and Uber pretzel is 5hr 24mins but I suspect would take longer due to finishing on the Alpe and you'll be completely fubared by that time.

PRL full doesnt interest me as a route at all due to the repetitive nature but that one should take 6hr 41min at my pace - I will have to do it at somepoint to finish the challenge though 🙁

6 hours of riding is pushing the boundaries of saddle soreness and potential divorce 🤣🤣🤣 Mega is definitely an option but I'm not sure when I'll get the time to do the other 2.

Although based on yesterday's performance I'm not sure I'd actually be able to get up the Alpe at the end of the Ultra 🤣🤣

Either for me, times no issue at the moment, PRL I won’t look to do when that comes up. 🙂

Any commutes this week?

Forge I'll maybe be virtual commuting towards the end of the week, the tuesday night race tends to stop me doing anything on a Tuesday or Wednesday now.
I also have to fit in an Academy workout one morning too.

Uber should be fairly straightforward. It's longer but the climbs are relatively easy, well spaced out and if you have a decent group there's plenty of flat to recover on.

I'm home Friday so up for a commute if folks fancy. Happy to put one in?

Also are we doing Sunday "hills" this week? I did suggest fan flats and sprints as folks fancy for something different and a complete change of pace from last week but I'm very happy to be overruled.
Again in happy to put one in the calendar.

Anyone up for hills this weekend? Maybe something flatter?
Dust in the wind, out and back again, perhaps twice around Yorkshire or similar? Maybe something we haven't done for a while.

Throw your ideas in, any preference for Saturday or Sunday?

I think I can do Sat or Sun this week but prob not at long as last week! I wouldn't say completely flat as we are riding on the flat on Tuesday's race.

Commute wise - I can make a recovery ride on Friday morning depending on how I am feeling after the TTT on Thursday evening i.e. I may not make it!

I'm planning 2 of the ZA workouts tomorrow and Friday Robbo, not sure if that will work for your recovery ride... I'll be probably doing the CCW Volcano circuit one on Friday if you want to use the rubber band?

I was planning to do one this morning but it's the sprint one and that was never going to happen after last nights race 😉

I usually enjoy hills and get on well but the last few weeks I've been right off my game. Robbo (and everyone else for that matter) left me straggling on the final climb in Richmond on the TTT the other week, the climb out of the jungle had me genuinely thinking about getting off and going home at the weekend (I think I might have had t be end not been in sight by then) and last night I just burst on the last climb, woodster put about 30 seconds into me and it really should be the other way around.

I might take it gentle this week and bring up the rear.

Well weekend of the 21st I'll be enjoying not having to socialise with anyone for my birthday so shan't be doing much zwifting.

So you lot doing it that weekend works well for me.

Can we not do the mega before the Uber??? Need to warm up to it...

That being said, I don't think I'll be able to find a 5 to 6 hour window to do the Uber currently.

I'll be honest I think the Uber or mega would be a two parter for me, bit cheaty but I'd ride a few hours leave it logged in and go do something more interesting for the day, few more hours the following morning.

No way I'm spending 6hours staring at zwift.

I’ll see I feel for Sunday after a 50/60 miler on Saturday, I won’t overdo it hills wise so I’ll have more chance of waking up not too stiff (legs I mean, oh er Mrs).

I'd may up for doing the Uber on the 28th would do two (15min) rests around 25 and 50 miles and then a shorter one before the Alpe just after the final sprint.

Happy to setup a meetup nearer the time as can't setup more than a week ahead, won't be sprinting round it, be good to have a end of lockdown v2 challenge !

What's a decent wheel on smart trainer that doesn't cost the earth?

[s] @notmyrealname if you can stretch to it the elite drivo direct drive is 599 in Halfords less 10% with any of miriad discounts would put it a bit over budget but generally a *big* improvement from wheel on. [/s]

Ignore that. In stock but not available to buy in store or for delivery.

@dangeourbrain I was looking at the direct drive models but my bike has a thru axle and runs a 10/42 cassette so would need both the axle adaptor and XD driver adaptor which adds another hundred pounds to the cost.

I might just go with a Kickr Snap, I've found a place with one in stock and it seems to fit the bill.

Is there much difference between the Kickr Snap and the Kickr Core that makes it worth the extra £250 or so?

For what it's worth the drivo comes with a 142x12 adapter in the box and takes a standard hg cassette so will fit the cheapest 11-46 or what ever 11 speed you can find/want (I've got an 11-27 ultegra on mine, the rear wheel has a 10-42, the mech plays fine with both)

Thru axle is likely to be more trouble on a wheel on than a DD due to needing to be able to clamp the axle. (eg the snap needs a £45 axle for 142x12 and it will depend if you're on ethru, maxle etc)

I've already got an axle that works with the thru axle for a wheel on trainer so that's taken care of.

I've got spare 11 speed cassettes sitting around so I could easily use an 11-32 on the trainer I guess.

Monday morning commute club for anyone interested. 6.45am. Rubber band is on so you can do your own workout and we remain together as a group. Greater London Flat is the route in case anyone wants recon for Tuesday evenings.
