[Closed] ZTTO cassettes and chains

I've read a couple of posts on here with differing views but wondered what others people options/experiences of ZTTO cassettes and chains. My ebike set up needs replacing and I quite fancy one of the gold coloured 10-50T ones. Obviously still a reasonable chunk of money to take a punt on from AliExpress.

I have taken a punt on the HG 11-50 12 speed light weight one. End up being 70 including shipping and fees.

It is going on my daughter's bike and it the cheapest weight saving! 250g saving for 70 minus what I get for the SX cassette.

Hopefully it won't be rubbish!

I have a 9-46 XD 11 speed one, bought when nothing else was available.
It's light but shifting was awful with either 11sp xt or 11sp xo mechs. Probably the range was too much. But it does work ok with a 12speed nx mech paired with a 11 speed gx shifter.
Not shimano or sram cassette shift quality but ok.

Edit - just re-read. For an e -bike, maybe a lightweight ztto is a bit risky? Stick to nx instead and get better shifting.

Yeah true, maybe a bit risky. I might ask on the ebike forum and see if anyone has done it there.

Don’t do it. I got a couple of rides old 9-50 oil slick xd ztto cassette off eBay…lasted 3 rides. Shifted well, nice and light, looked pretty. I was riding a new trail with a surprise punchy climb at the end, shifted a handful of gears in a one’r, obviously not the smoothest but it literally peeled 1/4 of the 3rd sprocket off!!! Ride over. Fortunately I didn’t spend the £120 ish it would’ve been new. £40 for 3 rides wasn’t the best value though!

^^^that was on my sentinel so not an ebike. No way I’d bother on an ebike.

I had the 11 tooth cog break on my 11 speed ZTTO cassette. Almost literally disintegrated. I'll not be bothering again.

Done more than 1,000 miles on mine. It's lasted better than the Eagle GX it replaced. They are very lightweight mind.

Have a couple of Ztto cassettes on various bikes, always been ok, had a new cassette and chain from ztto fitted to my gravel bike at the weekend and the chain was utter garbage, wouldnt shift properly and ran really rough , so binned it and nice kmc chain fitted and running lovely now ... Cassette - yes , Chain - No

broken thing

I'm 13 1/2 stone, no Sir Chris Hoy in the leg department. I know s*** happens, but I've never had another cassette cog do that.

I've had/got a few ztto cassettes. Bought from when it was impossible to find parts.
On the eeb I've had one of the cheaper heavier 12 speed jobs. Managed to break the first one after about 1000 miles - the rivets holding the cassette went and caused the lower gears to just spin around the freehub.
However I think it was at least partially user error - not doing the lockring up tight enough so the rivets were taking the torque rather than via friction between the sprockets.

Second one is doing better.

On the trail bike I've got an ultralight blingy one. No problem to report.

Shifting is maybe not quite so good as sram/Shimano but certainly not bad at all.

I'd buy another

Another vote for the NX cassettes, i live off them on my ebike, just replaced one and it never gave me any issues until the skip started after it's mating with the third chain, was a shame, but they're now available at 70 quid from the likes of tweeks, so not horrific compared to the prices of cassettes last year!

I put a 9-50 on my gravel bike was ok at first but a few rides in started to shift really poorly then somehow between rides it must have held on to the chain and completely destroyed my rear mech. Replaced with a 10-50 gx and the shifting is so much better.

I’ve been running a cassette for just a couple of hundred miles now. It’s generally ok but shifting not the smoothest. I’ve had a few random skips when I put the power down which doesn’t inspire confidence, but overall not terrible.

I do feel like it’s one bad gear shift from exploding, but so far so good-time will tell.

Doesn't the NX cassette only fit on non XD driver body's?

Airbike one seems good after a 100km or so

Ah yes. HG freehub only. So nx cassette+ freehub cost v gx cassette.
Or look at sunrace? I don't know if they have an all steel nx equivalent but to fit xd but I had reasonable life out of one of their lighter 12 speed ones. Again not quite shimano/sram quality shifts but much better than the ztto.

I’ve run 3 or 4 11speed 46-11 on HG freehubs for a couple of years. All 3 have been very good. Shifting might not be as crisp as the 2 big S’s but it’s fine margins. They are very light and I’m not sure I’d be putting one on a e-bike.

Most of the rivets failed on my 12 speed one - worked well for a while, but not worth it in my view...

On an ebike I’d just go for a heavy chunky NX or similar.

I bought an Airbike one from Ebay which seems ok - shifting a bit less smooth than Shimano perhaps.

There was a link somewhere on here to a youtube guy who reviews aliexpress parts. IIRC the conclusion of his video was that the steel ones are generally decent, but the alu ones have poor longevity.

I bought a couple of 11-52T SLR2 HG ultra light cassettes at the height of lockdown, nearly £100 each

positives
Came quickly direct from ZTTO store
Super light
Oil slick looked great

negatives
Out of the box they didn't play well with new chains. One of the gears needed shaping with a Dremel to stop the chain hopping out
The big gears wore out quick but then they are just light alloy
The 11T on one cassette exploded, replaced with a Sunrace 11T

Another bike is still running a 11-50T one piece ZTTO HG cassette. I was intrigued that is was one big lump like an XD cassette, and quite light. Seems ok, in use with a lighter rider than me I think I would wear it out in short order.

Been replacing them with Sunrace CSMZ901 11-51T cassettes about £70 which are all steel cogs so a little heavier but would expect to last well, had good mileage with other Sunrace cassettes in the past.

Not very great reading but the cassette is going on my daughter's bike. 30kgs plus bike so should be pretty low power. I took the punt as I have got fed up with xo and GX cassettes loosing teeth on my bike. So thought I might as well go cheap and see what happened!

I'll be selling this gold bad boy when I can get around to it, along with the chain. Both brand new, XD, 12spd.😉

The cassette is a 9t- 50t so massive range.

Might be interested in that poopscoop - I've the same but hg version running sweet on my sentiel. Have some xd drivers waiting as that's what I'm standardizing on going forward.

I've used the ZTTO 10 speed cassettes 3 times. 2 have been great, not sure I would have been able to tell the difference between Shimano and these once fitted.

The 3rd was poor from the start with sloppy tolerances, it moved a few mm on the freehub body so it rattled like crazy on bumpy stuff and added a slight delay when pedaling. Because it had been months from ordering to getting around to fitting I ended up just binning it.

I'd use them again but I'd fit it straight away so I could return any problem items. I guess some of the cost savings come from lower quality control than SRAM or Shimano so the odd issue can be expected.
