It's time for yunki Jr to move on from his unloved balance bike..

He never really got the hang of it, has outgrown it, and now we have moved house there's acres of smooth tarmac for him to get to grips with pedals and stabilisers..

I'd planned on a fixer upper from the tip, but everything that I've looked at weighs a ton (the argos specials in the 4 year old age range are rated for riders up to 100kg FFS!) and I feel that as a father and a cyclist I'd be taking the mickey a bit if his first real bike at 3.5 years old weighs more than my MTB..

So I'm looking for something second hand and half decent but I'm stuck on the size issue

14 inch or 16 inch wheels..?

There's certainly more available in the 16inch bracket but I don't want to stick the poor lad on a massive machine 'cos he's little enough confidence on two wheels as it is..

Is there anyone in Devon with an Islabike or a Specialized Hotrock or similar willing to meet up so that we could have a look at sometime..?

What's your budget?
I've an older cnoc 14, [s]battered[/s] well used, that I keep meaning to sell, but never get round to it. T
Should be stabilisers for it somewhere as well.

weeeeell... I've managed to convince mrs yunki that £50 or £60 quid is reasonable, and I reckon I could add a bit more on top if I sold a couple of bits on the classifieds..

you don't need a pair of unused deore shifters by any chance do you..?

😕
