Hi

I've recently bought an elite crono mag trainer and also downloaded some Sufferfest videos.

Loving it, but am not using any sensors etc for real power output.

Any suggestions for a really cheap sensor setup e.g. Virtual Power. It doesn't need to be totally accurate, just enough to push me harder in my workouts...

Cheers for any advice...

Any ANT+ cadence/speed sensor and a compatible dongle should do it.

I bought a Mio cadence/speed sensor cos that was the GPS system I was using at the time. They didn't do a dongle, so I bought a Garmin dongle.

I was a bit sceptical of two manufacturer's kit working together even if they did both proclaim to be ANT+ but Trainerroad did its stuff and they paired up straight away.

There are more compact dongles than the Garmin one though (Suunto maybe?), and I wish I'd bought a more compact one that I could leave plugged in all the time, rather than the memory stick length Garmin which I remove after every session to stop it getting bashed.

On ebay, it looks about £30 - £40 for the sensor and between £7 and £30 for the ANT+ dongle/usb stick depending on if you want to buy from UK or China etc.

I got the new micro ANT+ usb for £16 on eBay the other week from a UK supplier and it works perfectly with the HR belt from my Garmin Edge, don't have the cadence sensor but planning on picking one up at some point soon.
