[#2036275]

Jack Frost is around the corner and it's time for me to start getting a few winter riding items together. Just a few bits to ensure it's still fun when it could only just be bearable.
What's your favourite bit of winter kit? I only found the joy of sealskins socks last year and am sure I'm missing out on some other gems.

Gore Windstopper fronted bib tights, and a full Windstopper jacket, £40 from keeping an eye on bargain rails in the local bike shops. Best winter kit ever.

nice thick merino base layers with long arms, a fleecy buff, a really nice de marchi mid layer that is ten years old but is very warm for its bulk, a ground effect merino top who's name i can't remember, woolie hats. I love the heat but love pulling on warm clothes on a cold day as well.

Goretex jacket is awesome. So are my specialized jerseys and altura or endura (I forget) bib tights.

As for feet, I find the rule of 4 works. So that's two pairs of thick socks, shoes, and overshoes.

I get cold feet & had these out for the 1st time this 'chilly season' on Sunday.
I'll be in them on & off until about May.

Waaaaaay better than any overshoes I've tried

Valleydaddy - all of it really. You know what British weather is like coldy one day and snowy/rainy/windy/icy the next!

I get the idea Zoolander 😉

On top

Compression top long sleeve

if really cold a thin fleece top

Gore windstopper jacket, I am using this all the time brilliant.

If to warm for Gore a Lidl gillet

If raining a Altura Attack react jacket

Legs dependant on weather

Waterproof shorts

3/4's

Thermal bib tights nice and cosy

thermal seal skins

may try overshoes this year too but my mate looked like a horse wearing his in the snow last year 😆

Just added an Endura 3/4 zip merino to my other (substantial) merino kit selection and it's mighty fine. Just had that on top with a gilet the last few rides - bibshorts over the top of the merino and under the gilet - works a treat.

As for favourite kit - Gore windstopper gilet, I think. Works a treat. As do my Nuke Proof lights. Top kit.

Get anything Merino, It doesn't smell for about 3-4 rides so ideal for commuting.

Get a windproof jacket/gilet but a long sleeve Jersey, good gloves, i use Shimano MW80 shoes and they're spot on. But anything similar will be great.

Get a good front light, Budget is key, Hope will last forever, are mid price ranged and are bright as.

Lupine are on the upper price range but are killer, i run a wilma 7.

Nukeproof are good but are a cheap taiwanese light, the new X-lite ones will be coming out soon by Hotlines (nukeproof, ragley, ect ect) they'll have sick internals that'll be spot on and will also come in ano colours.

Light in motion are good for the money and cheap ish.

But look abour Bud, there is loads out there.

Ellis.

Mountain Equipment ORGE jacket - now finally past it's best after a fair few years of constant abuse both in and out of the washing machine.

bargain aldi leggings under baggies
halfords cold weather gloves for when it gets superduper cold
buff
sealskins socks
cheap £10 fleece from go-outdoors

Definitely spending good money on a jacket again this year, but I find budget stuff just fine for base layers.
