[#2292016]

morning all, going through the agonising preplanning stage… need to try a 575 and an ASR 5 if possible. are there any shops who demo them or do i need to wait for a demo day?

also on the paper are a Orange5, Blur Lt, Mojo HD etc etc just need to give them a go at some point

cheers!

edit - should add, riding an old Reign which is getting a bit baggy and is HEAVY but im quite attached to the lunacy it encourages. things like the Fuel Ex look interesting but i guess im hung up on travel...

We have an ASR5 on permanent demo. Medium Black Alloy.

In Edinburgh if that helps.

We will also have an HD just as soon as we can keep one in long enough to make into a demo...

Purple Mountain had alu ASR5's in small, medium and large, which they swapped between their shops at Dalby and Kielder.

Dalby's not too far if you are based in Leeds

foureyes - just thought I'd say that I went from an (old-style) 575 to a (new-style) Reign and thought the Giant was a far better bike for pretty much everything.

Cuppatea? I think I've seen more greasy baked goods in tbc than cups of char.

You should consider a Remedy if you find the Fuel to short in travel, it occupies the same ground as a 5. You'll need to find a shop with one or a demo day though as Trek won't send a demo to any dealer.

Remedy, yep its interesting how many bikes are using a tapered 32mm fox fork these days when they had a 36 before and still could.

is the shimano bolt through and a tapered steerer really that good?

the last 120ish travel bike i tried was a long time ago really so maybe it is time to try the new breed

The Shimano QR is the neatest solution to the problem I've seen- it's tidier than a maxle by a fair way. Tapered steerers- well, I'm not so bothered about a stiff front end and don't tend to notice stuff like that.

hey up foreyes. Have you thought about crosstrax in leeds. Claim to be uk's largest yeti dealer, though when ive seen them its usually all or nothing in terms of stock. Check website. Also try the biketree in sheff. new shop dealing with yeti but again every time i go in its limited disply ie 1 or 2 yeti items. Though this time of year i expect shops to be waiting for new stuff. I too am interseted in th easr5 so i will be following this post, keep us up to date and good luck
