It's great isn't it? All the mud is frozen, nice and clean, no bike washing afterwards, love it!
I've got to say I just had one of the best ever 2hr blasts round my local loop of Nidd Gorge.Crispy,crunchy,grippy,sunny.Fantastic.
Frozen mud. Positives: Fast, dry.
Negatives: Frozen ruts, no grip, hurts if you fall off
I'm not so sure. I prefer summer...
I agree. To some extent I prefer this time of year - fast solid ground, no over-heating, clear crisp air and quieter trails.
Only problem is it hurts when you do come off, and that can happen instantly with no warning at all if you hit a nice patch of black ice.
Only downside is the cold.
On the plus, trails nice and empty for most sensible people are tucked up warm at home.
i'll be off riding in half hour. woop 🙂
The ground's all disappeared under an endless sheet of ice here 🙁
