Big volume tyres with a light tread - its hardpack chalk or loose, flinty stuff. My fastest traverse was riding a SS CX with 40mm tubeless tyres in the days before 'gravel' bikes existed.

Some nobbles and decent volume. This year it was murder on the hard pack dry descents, it felt like an earthquake in terms of the vibrations. On a rigid though. I think I had too much psi.
