Quick FYI Post as ive been messing about with an xx1 chainset on my hardtail.
XX1 Chainset integrates fine with a 1x10 setup. Ran with a 34t ring, 11-36 cassette and a x9 type 2 mech. Didnt run a chain device and had no retention issues but conditions were terrible so wasn't really pushing too hard. Will try and get a bit more rowdy on it over the next few days and see how it copes but it appears to be a nice chainset option for a 1x10 setup.
any pics of your set up?
Ill pop one up tomorrow after ive cleaned it, you cant see much for the mud at the moment 😐
Article on BikeRumor during the week said the same thing.
Half tempted to change, but I'd need a clutch mech, and the chainsets all seem to come with a 32t ring, so I'd need a new one too. 😕
Trying out the same setup as you V10

With the weather it's not had a lot of hard abuse, but there is plenty of room for the mud to escape around the BB now. I've been throwing myself down any flights of steps I've met on rides with no problems. I did give it a sort of hard test by spinning the drivetrain while forcing the chain around with a stick 🙂 it does take a huge amount of sideways flex to derail the chain, more than a natural position in use. Getting It runs really quietly which is not a surprise as it takes quite a force to pull the X9 mech forwards against the clutch/spring.
Time will tell, the Anthem rear end is not the stiffest so let's see when we get some sideways flex involved on a lumpy downhill.
Gee, there should be some XX retro fit spiders appear sometime, if there the same design?
Thinking I might do this myself. Pity you can't spec the ring at purchase ... £167 with a 32t at bike-discount.de. I'd need a 30t max, maybe 28.
