I took mine apart last night and failed to notice if there is a ceratin way around, both wheels have a U on one side and an L on the other, is there a correct way?
I would have thought the U was for upper and L for lower but which way round, should the U on the top wheel be visible from the front of back of the mech?

Yup, U(pper) and L(ower) should be visible from the side of the bike (i.e. not looking through the wheel).
