[b]*bugger, fixed it. it was ,me being an idiot. I was threading the cable in when the shifter was at the wrong end of the range, I'll leave the below in case anyone ever googles the same problem!**[/b]

Ok, definitely think I'm just missing something here, but trying to install some 9 speed XT shifter (Mega 9 ones in silver so quite old). I flick the shifter lever until I can see daylight through the cable hole, and then thread the cable through until it can't go any further.
The problem is that when I then try to change gear using the levers nothing happens! It clicks to change and the little red bit moves in the indicator to the next gear, but the cable doesn't move at all; it just doesn't seem to be getting pulled through.
This is happening with both F&R shifters so think it's definitely user error rather than a problem with the shifters. Any ideas guys? Cheers![/i]
