morning...
finally managed to clean my brakes but they are still screaming like a banshee... any ideas on how to stop this as its really blooming anoying
cheers
remove disc, get wet and dry paper, sand disc clean, clean with brake disc cleaner, replace, bed in pads again by stopping hard 10 times from around 20 mph. It's uneven build up of friction material on the disc that causes it.
cheers jools will give it a go...
had same type of thing with slx rear did the disc thing which helped, also sanded pads with fine emery cloth and as last resort used small blow torch to burn oil out of pads burning worked but noisy agian later always seemed to be oil on pads changed rear cal all ok now would/could not ride until fixed
Cleaning the rotor with isopropyl alcohol, and lightly sanding the pads with a very fine paper sorted it for me.
Take the pads out and use a spacer/block to fill the gap, zip tie the levers back for a couple of hours and then check the pistons for fluid/dampness, and check where the hose goes into the caliper,
It might be a weeping piston seal, if it is you need a new caliper as the seals aren't replaceable. Or it might be a wonky olive on the caliper hose join
The SLX calipers are about £30ish. and a new olive and insert is about £2.50ish, if its the new style brakes you need the BH90 olive and insert for the narrow bore hose..
And ime once the pads are contaminated its nigh on impossible the clean em up once the fluids soaked in, so new pads as well...
i have already checked the brakes for leaks. its probably mostly due to not using the bike for over a year due to a wrist injury. have cleaned them with disk brake cleaner but not done the sand paper thing.... if all else fails and the swinley sand dosnt sort them on monday then it'll be some new pads...
cheers for the suggestions
Sandpaper is good if the pad's uneven but if it's just cloggy/surface dirty, then a scouring pad is really effective- 3m scotchbrite pads from tesco, £1 for 3 😉

It sounds like you may be halucinating. Most brake noise is more of a squeal, hardly ever do brakes come out with actual words.
If my brakes screamed 'help please' I would probably sh1t myself.
Try riding your bike through the soon to be here winter.
No need for any of that pussyfooting sand this/clean this stuff.
One good long ride in the shite n slop and your pads will be in the bin without any mamby pamdy sanding down. 😉
Either that or check that your hose isn't leaking at the banjo and dumping brake fluid on the pads...
