having problems with my Guides so considering swapping to XT8000's but current set up has brake and shifter integrated, is there any way I can do this with the XT's??

Yes, take the guide brakes off. (the clamp is on the shifter)

Sram also do a more compact shifter-only clamp.

Yep they are made by a company called Problem Solvers, they solve problems.
