Surprised to see that this is available as Bar mount, I spec-b AND i-spec 2

I-spec 2 is the 'newest' as far as I can work out but which of these works best with a Hope Tech Lever? I know Hope make adaptor mounts but do they actually put the shifter in the right place?

Currently got an ispec B XT on a Hope Tech 3 (bolts straight up but you need the square Ispec A nuts or use a square weld nut (be careful on screw length not to wreck your bars by going too long) or cut a rivnut/spikey nut thing.

I am going to try ispec II XTR on my nicer bike using the Hope adapter. It might be a waste of £12 but I throught I would try the angle adjustment. I dont think it gives any extra sideways movement but you can adjust the position without removing the shifter as on ispec B as the bolt head is easier to access.

I think the part number is HS137 L/R

not mounted it yet but it looks like it will be in the same place as ispec B mounted to the tech 3 but with a bit of rotation. Thinking of going back to bar mount for my friends SLX.

I specB matchmakers were designed for 10speed IspecB shifters

If you go IspecB for 11speed shifters You may need to 'adapt' ie file your tech lever matchmaker as shimano's interpretation of IspecB for M8000 XT is different to 10speed.

This meant I had to file my Ispec B matchmaker to fit my race evo matchmakers.

Ispec2 is more likely to have been designed for the actual shifters you want to use.

Check the compatibility table on the Hope site. I'm running xtr I-spec II on a hope tech 3 lever. It functions perfectly and looks really neat. However, I set my brakes so I've got one finger on the very tip of the lever, this puts the shifter at the limit of adjustment and just a smidgen too far away. It works and I've never missed a shift, but closer would be nicer.

Onzadog - it looks like Hope have an adaptor so that pretty much anything will fit.

I've got full SRAM on one of my bikes and on that I find the gears are a bit too close but the Reverb lever (on the left) is angled too far upwards and slightly too far away.

Separate clamps are likely to make things worse rather than better though.....

Their chart doesn't show a tech 2 ego to an ispec II mount which is what the wife's was after.

I use tech 2s with I spec 2 XT 11 speed. I just used a clamp ring from a bar grip. It works fine with no faff or expense
