In the process of fitting a new 11sp XT cassette to my Hope Pro 2 hub, however the lock ring doesn't seem to tighten properly. It starts to tighten, and then suddenly pops loose.
It was fine with my old 10p SLX cassette, but I just can't seem to get this one to tighten properly. Is it likely the lock ring is duff?
Or that your freehub is.
Make sure everything is very clean when you're assembling it - especially behind the cassette.
Is the cassette seated fully on the freehub? If it's only engaging on the start of the thread then that could be your issue. I'd remove it, grease, refit, persuade with a rubber mallet and see if that works
^ this. XT cassettes are very tight on many hubs. Grease/copper slip and assist it on 😉
Tried again tonight. The new XT lock ring pops straight off after a few turns ... one from an old SLX cassette I had lying around works fine and tightens nicely.
