Has anyone used one of these: http://www.xlc-parts.com/produkte_detail_en,0,8254.html

They seem pretty cheap, are they any good?

I've got one. Or, I had one for a couple of months and now it's away for warranty repairs. When it worked, it was was great, if quite heavy (730g with remote and cut-down cable). It went up and down smoothly and in a controlled manner. The remote was a bit shonky, but worked; I had some trouble getting space for it on my bars. Then after a few rides it started slowing rising from lowered by itself. It wasn't such a problem, but then a couple of rides later it started dropping uncontrollably; just a couple of cm at first and then the whole length.

Mine was very cheap, relatively speaking, from bike-components.de. I should hopefully get it back, in working order, next week.

I did some research before buying mine, and they seem to come from the same Chinese factory.

Yeah, it came back in a little less than 2wks. It's still doing fine, although the bike has been used a bit less due to other commitments. The only thing I did was change to a better cable and outer after the original started getting gritty. Apart from the weight, I can't really see much of a downside so far.
