Hey good people
I'm thinking of spending my hard earned on a marin attack trail 6.7 instead of a spec pitch. As have found a good price on it.
What are you thoughts? good enough for both all dayers as well as the downhilly stuff.
Also anyone got any advice with regards to the sizing. I'm thinkin of going for a large as i'm 6ft and normalish length legs/arms/torso
i've had a test ride but on a medium which felt a bit small but don't want to be left on a gate by getting a large.
its this one here

Thanks all

I've got a 2009 Wolf Ridge, which I really rate very highly indeed.
Sizing is extremely important. I'm 5' 11" and although the medium felt nice and wieldy, the top tube was too short and I kept banging my knees on it. The large is a bit of a gate, but you'll have sufficient room up front to make climbing it a viable proposition.
I've not ridden a Pitch, but I do have a 2004 Enduro for comparative purposes. The Marin is a much more entertaining ride, the suspension stiffens slightly under pedalling, so you can launch it off roots and it's very easy to manual. I'm very happy with mine, it's reinvigorated my riding.
Criticisms? Not many. I can't see why they didn't come with a double and bash chainset and the Truvativ Blaze on the 6.7 is a heavy ISIS unit that should be upgraded as soon as possible. An SLX double is perfect for the job.
It's not light either at 33-34lb, but it will be extremely easy to lose weight from the 6.7, I managed to get my missus' 2008 Rock Springs down to 30lb without ridiculous expense.
Hi Ryan,
I don't whether this would bother you or not. I tried a Whyte E-120, same design, but it didn't fit onto my car roof bike-carrier, because of where the rear shock sits.
I know that I could have bought another type of carrier, but that added to the price.
I think the resale value of the pitch may be more, but that's not really the question here.
It seemed a comfy bike that i would have been happy all day on, but when I'm on any bike, I'm happy.
Thanks for the replies guys
I do actually have an slx double that i was planning to switch, weight doesn't bother me too much as i'm pretty damn heavy (around 99kg)
Currently just chuck bike in the back of my car, but its a good point, cheers
i you want to have fun on it get a medium. ive got at medium and its pretty big. i could have got away with a small and im 5'.9". a medium will fit you perfect even with a short stem. who wants to ride a gate on the techinal downhill stuff.
ive got my 2009 wolf rigde 6.9 model down to 30lb by speccing it with light weight DH/all mountain gear.it now pedals all day xc no probs and i would use it for uplift DH days, just put some dual ply tyres on. definetly a do it all bike.
just noticed the the model you have chose does not have a rear shock lockout/flood gate /pro pedal. this wil hamper all day/climbing performance.
its worth going for the next model up.
FWIW, I saw a 2010 6.8 on sale at Cycle Surgery near Victoria for £1,200. That's a lot of bike for the money...
The comments on frame sizing depend very much on your individual build. If you've got longish legs like me then you'll smack your knees on the bars of a medium. My missus's 2008 Rock Springs is a medium and although it's a riot on the descents, I can't ride it for long because of the shortness of the top tube. If you've got another bike to do the all day xc stuff then a medium sized fun bike might be an option. If it's going to be your only bike then you might be better served by sizing up and shortening the stem.
Hiya.
I've got the 2009 Wolf Ridge 6.8 (the orange one) and i love it. Yes, they are a somewhat heavy design but - and i was sceptical at first - they really do 'ride lighter' than their weight suggests. I can keep ahead of my mate on his Orange 5 anyway. The top tubes are shortish so i would definitely get a spin on the large before committing to the spend.
I would also reccomend going for the model with the pro-pedal/floodgate set up as pedalling the bike uphill in the fully open mode is somewhat disheartening!
I actually like the fact it came with a triple ring SLX set up but thats just me, i want to ride it all day and i need a big ring for that.
The suspension action is IMHO one of the best designs out there, it sits a fair way into its travel which can feel odd to begin with, but i haven't managed to really bottom it out yet as it just does feel to go on and on.
For contrast, i also have a Marin Mount Vision 2004 and i've fallen out of love with it thanks to the Wolf Ridge!
your size choice should probably be decided by your riding style. if your more about the allday X.C stuff the large could be a possibility as the longer top tube will help with climbing.
anyone with a more gravity/fun biase would without a doubt choose the medium. better stand over height, better manouevrabiliy.
definetly try before you buy if possible.
If interested a friend of mine has got Attack Trail 6.9 for sale in Large size. He rode it 3 times and decided it was way too much for his liking, obviously riders in SE England are a bit picky. He's back on his Rockhopper now, and says that he wants Spesh Camber now. 😕
Never mind the fact that the inherant design of Marin bikes is blummin ugly, they've managed to make it look even worse with the chavvy graphics imo.
I couldn't bear to look at that thing every time I got my bike out - granted far less important than how it rides, but still a factor for me.
i have an 07 quake. I pedal it around with guys on carbon Ibis bikes and 120mm FS bikes, and I keep up. The only is issue is the weight, which comes from the linkage design and fat rear arm.
Pedals well. Cheap. Lifetime bearing warranty. Good welding on frames.
cheers everyone
still completely undecided so will have to get a ride on a large before comitting
if it makes any difference i normally ride a 18" mmmbop sizing wise
i think a large will have a 19.5" seat tube!not 100% sure though. my medium has a 17.5"
