Guys I currently ride a Scott Ransom which I love but the frame snapped a couple of weeks ago (already have a new frame from Scott's warranty) so I've borrowed a XC bike and I love the way it feels/rides compared to my heavy/downhill Ransom,so I'm going to get a XC bike to ride on my normal single track stuff and keep the Ransom for the bigger stuff. After the great service I've just received from Scott I want to stay with the brand so I'm looking at a Spark 30 as it's nice and light and has good spec what are you thoughs on this bike? Also I'm a big lad at just over 15 stone so will the bike be able to take my weight and still ride well?

the more you weigh, the more light XC bikes flex, and so they will feel more springy. i know that i get knocked around really badly on mine as im very light- i cant vouch for the strength of the scale but i imagine it would be fine.

Lol @ a big lad at 15 stone....

Anyways, the best bet is to get out and try and get a demo on one of the bikes. Make sure the shocks are set to your weight so you get the best possible run at it.

You may find having the rear shock tuned properly when you do buy a bike will help a lot if you find you're using all the travel too easily.

If all else fails there are a lot of offerings from other big brands such as SC, orange etc in that price range so you should find a demo of something you like.
