Wtf is going on with Endura’s designs!?

[#13531689]

Just had another email from Endura about their new range and thought I’d click through and have a look.

Seems another ‘mr tumble’ range of baggy odd looking sort of cycling but not really with features that seem odd, all modelled on people with faces slapped by dead haddock.

Apart from the sizing and the odd misfire I’ve always liked Endura, I just can’t help think this direction they’re going in will bury them.

Am I just being old and grumpy and mis understanding the ‘on trend’ designs?

No idea on designs, but until they sort out their quality (gloves and shoes especially) and their sizing (loads of things and crazily wrong on occasion), they're going to be ****ed before too long.

🤷‍♂️

I would argue that quality control issues have been going on for years now but then for every person that's had multiple bad experiences there's someone that's never had a problem.

Jesus, looks like they're doing a Specialized/Fjallraven tribute range!

WTAF? 🤣

I gave up buying any further Endura stuff a couple of years ago - biking tops bought for Mrs a11y, mini a11ys and me all same issue of shite quality with the fabric pulling without any provocation. Refunded as not fit for purpose IMO. My older Hummvee shorts and a couple of gilets are superb though and don't appear keen to die.

Wow, I thought that image may have been mocked up as a joke but it’s actually on their website. Shame I’ve always got on with their stuff and the new(ish) gravel short sleeve top thing is lovely.

My mum had been fully kitted out in endura stuff for Xmas/birthday pressies the last year,  3/4 shorts/jackets/tops/gilet/humvee quilted jacket/gloves. All bought very cheaply I might add from cyclestore.

She loves the stuff and wears it all the time whether on bike or off. when I rode (6yrs ago now☹️) I thought it was good value

I would argue that whilst that is probably true, of late they have been getting much worse.

Still, maybe their new lines will save them. There must be a market for people who want to ride the gnar whilst dressed as Rod, Jane and Freddy from Rainbow, right?

Another one here who has brilliant older Endura gear but who has not bought a single new Endura item for about 5 years... Dodgy quality, seriously changeable sizing (even on two tops from the same range) and some iffy design details (raised seam at the front of the chamois joing two densities of foam right under where the jewels are rolling around....).

This, and the last couple of years of colours, is just really odd.

Each to their own, but I'm not buying.

Altura, Scott, Vaude, Polaris, Sportful and Galibier have all had the money instead. Mrs_oab and I used to be head to toe in Endura and Polaris...

I'm still wearing (out) some Polaris kit and I keep waiting for their relaunch but I'm beginning to doubt it'll ever happen..

So just a 50% multiple bad experience rate 🤣

I’m another waiting for Polaris, however, unless I live until I’m a hundred I’ll probably not need anything. Apart from gloves, now there’s a problem,  my last Sealskinz leaked in a shower and my Endura windchill items are ready for replacement. I tried the latest version on in a shop recently- the Velcro cuff has been replaced with some very tight elastic. Whilst the XL fitted me they were extremely difficult to get on and off!

Indeed I'm feeling that Polaris may not happen - they have been 'relaunching' for, what, a year now? They're publicly saying that there's no waterproof or windproof garments in the range. But also no public 'shipments due in September' type announcements....

Looks like they're trying to be more inclusive by catering for people outside of the fat bald midded aged IT manager demographic 😘

Oh bless them, they've done an edgy capsule collection designed by designers for other designers to wear. I'm sure the rest of their range is just the same as ever though. It's one of those things outdoor and cycling brands do every so often to show that they're down with the kidz. Berghaus, same owners, have a whole raft of mildly hideous retro kit along the same lines. It's all a bit performative. Endura's core market will always be middle-aged mountain bikers with fond memories of the old Spandex shorts, just as the Berghaus consumer is an ageing rambler.

Instead going for the 70s/80s kids TV show side act (who don't mind their clothes falling to bits) market?

Bold strategy.

Well it was the tv shows us middle aged IT managers watched as kids so perhaps they are hoping for some slightly misplaced nostalgia?

As BadlyWiredDog says though most of the rest of the range seems to have just been copied forward from the previous ones. Be nice if they got the Humvees back to the older pretty bombproof ones which take years to wear out.

Suppose I should admit you'd have to pay me to wear that outfit pictured at the top of the thread 🤣

Been happy with their lightweight Ts from Sportpusuit if that counts for anything, wouldn't pay full RRP tho.

Another who stopped buying their stuff due to crap quality. Latest fail is the zip on an expensive 500 jacket which has seen very little use. Luckily I didn`t buy it, it was given as part of a volunteering role. Just reinforced my thoughts on their quality.

Probably looking for the diverse money and international market. Not only the designs, but the choice of models.

Clearly not trying to appeal to me.

Remember, we the main cohort on this forum are a small and dwindling market.

Ground Effect Supertankers are what you need.  In fact GE stuff is great, just need to remember to buy summer kit at Christmas...

Good god is that picture for real?

A cross between children's TV presenter and catalogue model. Designed with the aid of google search 🤮 🤣

For the grumpy old man market the black and grey range seems as large as ever - it doesn’t seem like they’ve stopped making all the mt500/hummvee etc

https://www.endurasport.com/mens.list?facetFilters=en_plg_colourRange_content%3AGrey%7Cen_plg_colourRange_content%3ABlack&pageNumber=2

But there’s choice for those 5st want something interesting  - who wouldn’t want to trail ride in white trousers?

https://www.endurasport.com/men-s-sultrac-lightweight-pants-lunar-rock/15796915.html

Personally I love the look of this stuff. It’s a small range (they still seem to have an incomprehensibly huge set of weirdly named overlapping ranges, and the website is shite (click on MTB and nothing comes up for me) but I’m guessing most stuff doesn’t get sold direct

Personally I think this is great but not sure I’d wear any of it to ride.  It does look heavily inspired by the spec/fjsllraven kit and I’d assumed that was a flop - a lot of it appeared heavily discounted (I picked £up a great shirt that was still expensive  at half price)

I look forward to seeing you out on the trails. Don't forget your little spotty bag, though.

In fact, pop some other riding gear in your spotty bag for when the Endura stuff falls apart. That'll complete 'the look'.

🙂

Why would you care what someone else is wearing?

All i would see is someone riding their bike? Which always a good thing.

I stand by it. Jusging what other people wear is basically the first step towards

"I don't understand the world anymore and i want to shout about it"
