Lads,
Which compound and are they worth the weight? ......
Should I try a 'light' version up front?
Thanks!
D
I'm assured that they are.
The 'grippy' is the front one, the 'tough' is similar to a Schwalbe Super Gravity but apparently stronger in the main tread area against rips. The 'fast' are harder and more suited to rear use.
It's a shame WTB have dropped 26er development, as apparently the Trail Boss is the ideal rear complement.
I got the rear trail boss and its brilliant! CRC out of stock until the weekend so just exploring options.....
I've got the Vigilante TCS 2.3 29er (no idea which version this is) and am very impressed but it's does come up narrow compared to the Spesh Purgatory 2.3 I had fitted up front
IMO def worth the weight, I prefer a stiff sidewall on my tyres so went for the team issue version.
I run one on the front almost all year round. Excellent tyre. The TCS AM is probably the one you want and compares favourably with most other tyres in it's class weight wise. If I recall it was about 850 grams on park scales which is comparable to a single ply maxxis minnion, but the WTB has stiffer sidewalls.
The Team version would be suitable if, for example you wanted to race a very DH orientated enduro or you wanted a light tyre for your dh bike.
