On holiday near Black Rock so I snuck out before everyone else was up for an explore. Up the High Peak trail to the trig point then a bunch of trails back down to the road where we're staying. Cheers to the folk on here for advice, I managed to avoid most of the really scary stuff.ย
Might have to do the same tomorrow.ย
40km out on the Moxie this morning (which drew admiring comments from 3 roadies and a Mum with a couple of toddlers in the park!). In a couple of weeks, it'll be top Bluebell season, and this loop is one of the best ways to sample them locally.
Brutal headwind for the 20km return leg, but trails running great mostly.
Didn't fancy unassisted riding today with the wind that was picking up, but it was quite nice when I set off. That soon changed with 4 seasons in one day - most of them being winter. The light rain forecast was in fact sideways downpours, sleet and hail. Bloody cold too. Cut the ride shorter than intendedย
Macavalanche with a mate today. Totally baltic conditions at times with sleet/snow/rain (and even a bit sunshine which i managed to capture) most of the day. Luckily during race time it stayed dry. Even managed to beat my mate for once. Happy that im chipping time off each year.
Me and the little one ticked off Mabie forest yesterday. Was a pretty nice day whilst riding, but the drive there was pretty hairy in places. Jess did pretty good on some of the red descent sections, have herself a little confidence boost going over some rocks and roots which was good.ย
Was going to ride forest of AE before heading home, but maybe not 🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️
Can't believe the difference this morning, last night on the campsite was lovely (a bit cold but still a nice evening)ย
I'm beginning to worry it WILL stay like this, my late-April MTB tour is getting awfully close and it's just more crappy cold and gusty conditions in the forecast 😭
Went out yesterday for a short blast - just bout managed to keep it between the hail and rain showers. It was Baltic. I took two photos from the same spot, but in opposite directions. In one direction, it looked like a fine day, and terrible in the other. And both were true!

depends where you're heading but the long range forecast is for high pressure later in April, so fingers crossed.
four seasons in one day here yesterday ๐ as per @johnhe photos ^^^
Bit overcast this morning, but otherwise excellent conditions on the SDW and in Stanmer. First few bluebells under the oaks, will be proper carpet in a couple of weeks.
After going to the mint sauce evening at Mason on Friday trying to get a bit more interesting with photo composition, not sure it's working.... ![]()

weather was a bit better today, but the wind wild have blown the head off you, once again, I could see the weather coming in and made it home just as the rain started.
Kept it local today as it was super windy and forecast to rain. Turned out really nice though.
Not sure why the photos appear to have the resolution of a Galaxy S2, but you get the idea.
Started yesterday fitting new, light(er) wheels/tyres onto my Tallboy - first time I've owned a sub-15kg MTB in a while! Happy with that given the OTT fork, 4-pots with 203s, rear tyre insert, muckle big front mudguard, heavy pedals etc on a XXL frame.
Took it for a local ride to local trail centre again, this time with just youngest a11y in tow. Worked on her confidence on her new bike on a set of bombholes, we're getting there 😎ย
Falkirk Wheel for a pee and snack, then an almighty tailwind (with bonus heavy-but-brief rain shower) back along the canal path. Few laps of the pump track where the wind was a PITA, then home. Not MTB in the true sense but some great dad+daughter time 🙂ย
Had hoped to ride tonight but I should've stayed off the pump track yesterday - my lower back is complaining big time now...
No pics worth sharing but Cropton Forest exploring the funky stuff and an up and over into Rosedale for a cracking little descent before a road spin back. Started out baltic and looking like it was going to hammer it down, finished in the sunshine and had an entirely dry ride. Stayed low down/in the trees - was pretty breezy on higher ground.

Interesting - is there some fun stuff in Cropton?

Surprisingly good. I'd only ridden through before as part of a bigger ride but we did a few of the trails on the middle-west side overlooking Hartoft (sp?) Rigg. Some cracking descents and a nice easy spin back up to the top. Not a huge number of them but some decent runs. Theres other stuff in there which I'm going to explore some time including (according to Strava!) a 1m+ descent.
Not sure if Monday really counts but had my first after work ride at Woburn of the year today! Love the backwoods trails and they're riding great today. This log drop looks scarier in person and in the run up but actually is pretty tiny! Or maybe I'm just not sending it enough ๐
After a long work week last week, took today off and headed to Rostrevor. Fabulous, steep techy trails.
If anyones bored enough to watch my race at macavalanche at the weekend.
Oops, thought the link didnt work above
