Am I going to be able to attach a decent vice to this one?

cheers

Doesn't look like it will be up to much abuse. I'd make one...

An old wooden school desk would probably be more suitable.

That looks a bit flimsy for much more than light duty. Now, if you were to add some diagonal cross bracing on the back & sides it would be ok. Also I'd fasten it to the wall. If your going to put a vice on it I'd use some 3/4" ply under the vice & under the worktop to sandwich it.

Whats wrong with a length of kitchen worktop, some 3x2 & some nice long screws.
In my day lashing up a workbench was almost a right of passage. 🙂

I'd rather build one based around either kitchen worktop or an old-style morticed wooden door. That pegboard looks a bit limited for a tool collection, too.

It's a meccano work bench.

I use a similar type of thing as a work bench, but I got a thick bit of Ply and added it to the top to make it more useful and then bolted the whole thing to the wall and made a steel plate with two bolt holes in it to support the vice over a larger area underneath the bench, it copes with everything I throw at it!
