My other half is looking for some womens shoes for using with flat pedals.
There seems to be quite a few pairs of SPD shoes available but not much in the way of flats.

Anyone got any suggestions for shops to try?

I've seen some nice 5:10's with purple highlights. To be honest you'll struggle with shops. Where are you based?

I should've made it a bit more clear, it doesn't need to be a bricks and mortar shop, online shops will do nicely ๐Ÿ™‚

The only one's I've seen so far are the womens 5:10 Karvers, can't find anything else!

Can you try and convince her to go spd? You can get some reslly good shoes and pedals for pennies. Maybe a platform spd , so she can build confidence on those. Other than that, I guess some vans of some kind, as cycling shoes are inherently stiff rubber to prevent flex, but give rubbish grip on flats when wet.

510 Karver Impacts - had mine for nearly five years, they've survived two muddy Mountain Mayhems and numerous trips through the washing machine.

I've got some lovely purple 5:10s. Good shoes and they match my handlebars ๐Ÿ˜€
