Hi there, just bought my first real full suss bike.
2009 Trek Fuel Ex8. I bought it second hand to see if i can get back in to my bikes.
One route iv been wanting to do for years is ride the top half of Lake Windermere. i go to the lakes at least 8 times per year and seen as iv bought a bike thats going to be on my list to do very soon.
Just wondering if any one has rode this route.??
The one id planned was to park on the other side of the lakes (West opposite Bowness bay) Then head north to say Ambleside then south in to Bowness. i think its about 14miles mostly on the road.
Not sure exactly where you mean without getting a map out, but from Bowness, take the ferry across and you've got the whole of the Grizedale Forest area to play in, it's really good out there!
Have a look at connect.garmin.com, you can use that website to search for rides around Windermere that match your criteria quite easily.
HTH.
thanks very much will do!!
yeh i was parking with out using the ferry. west side. then the route i had would finish on the east side and get the ferry back over
thanks any way

If your route involves 14 mostly on road miles your going to miss a HUGE amount of quality off road riding.
Ridethelakes has some route advice for the area you mention , also all the local bike shops will be able to advise on off-road routes.
Either way, bring 'weather' gear ๐
