I really couldn't care that much about it all. Well done, but hey ho.

I fell off the sofa when Cav came round the final bend with Edvard then launched with 400 to go "too early!!!" and then Sagan charged at the last, but Cav still won with a decent gap. I had to lie on the floor for a bit. And well done Brad and Team Sky.

My MiL was round and she hates sport. She talked most of the way through the preceding 7 laps about visits she'd made to paris, how expensive the C-E is for a coffee and I had low expectations of enjoying the finale. But credit due; ITV4 did a really good job of explaining what was going on for people who'd maybe never seen the TdF before (I assume with all the publicity, there was a fair proportion of yesterday's TV audience that aren't regular viewers) so that by the last time up the underpass she was on her feet shouting at the TV like me.

'Quite exciting' was the final appraisal. I assume for really exciting the opposition domestiques would have laser guided anti-manx missile missiles or something.

grum - The French seem to be quite happy that Bradley won. He speaks French, has some personality and has a great pedigree in cycling. On Saturday they devoted an hour to the history of British riders in the Tour and I've not really heard any criticism of him or Sky at all. The French people I know and work with are also perfectly happy with him winning.

You'll always get some knobbers on the internet that will allow you to prove any point but it's like the people who seem to find any reason to poke at the French in the UK, they're just dicks.

You just make my day. To be honest one reason I am not as much on here as I use to, is the increase of xenophobia and the fact that mark are perfectly happy with it.

Aye I guess so - I was just quite surprised there was virtually no-one at all saying well done, and dozens of people claiming Sky are definitely doping, and/or Wiggins has no class, it was a boring finish to a rubbish tour etc etc. I might have expected a bit of that but there was no balance at all AFAICS.

But I guess it must be the French cycling equivalent of the Daily Mail comments section.

Absolutely brilliant. Hopefully this will be the launch-pad for cycling entering the mainstream and being taken seriously now in the UK.

I admit I only took an interest this time and was furiously trying to work it all out, but the finale yesterday was soooooo exciting that I even considered riding a road bike for a moment - never thought I'd say that!

Seriously, tremendous effort and so good to see genuine, modest down-to-earth sportsmen win.

Actually I think, for the most part, that road cyclists tend to be quite modest. Tour winners know they needed the whole team to win, sprinters know they need the leadout people etc. I think it probably comes from years when they're made to race for other people, ruin themselves for someone else to take the glory. There are notable exceptions obviously ๐Ÿ˜‰

do not underestimate the contribution of David Brailsford. Met him after the time trial, and he was modest but obviously delighted with the team. If he isn't knighted then there is no justice.

He also signed my Sky shirt.
Cav and David Miller took time to sign both sons's Team GB jerseys, and in fact most of the Sky team were open and keen to meet the fans. So in short, the whole team are now legendary.
