Hi guys.

Ive had my whyte g170c rs for about 5 months now. And the sram GXP bottom bracket has given up already.

Anyway, I've replaced the BB with a sram gxp team bottom bracket. But I still have a little bit of play mainly when the driveside is at 3pm.

There wasn't any spacers behind the cups on the old one. So I havent fitted them behind the new either. According to whyte specs..  the original BB is the GXP XR (black cups). I couldn't find the exact same, but I take it all GXP BB are the same Anyway?

Can anyone help please?

Thanks alot

GXP BBs do not have any spacers on 73mm shells. What you have it correct.

Have you tightened the crank bolt to spec? It should tighten a decent amount until it stops.

If you're getting 5 months out of a SRAM BB, you're doing well, or not riding much!

Isn’t the XR slightly different - think that’s the one with very squared off cups rather than the more rounded ones on a lot of the other gxp Bbs?

A longer lasting option is a Hope BB with GXP converter. Easy to install and cheaper in the long term.

What mjsmke said, just replaced the goosed GXP bb on my T130 with a Hope BB with the GXP converter, from experience they last much, much longer than the crap GXP ones.
