Whyte bikes : real world sizing

I am very tempted by a Whyte g-180. But the geo / size chart says 6ft 3 upwards ( and a stand over height if 24 inches). A lot if this is driven by being a long travel bike.

But last time I sat I a Whyte bike (e 160 I think) the large seems a little small for me. Does anyone have any real world experience of the sizing of the G-180?

Thanks

Got an e180. At 6’1” a large is perfect for me. I suspect if I was any taller at all an XL would be appropriate.

I had a 905 at a similar height to you and XL was perfect. Unless geometry has changed a lot I can’t see large being the best fit, you’d be on an XL

If it helps.
I’m 5’11 with 32” inseam and found the Large E-150 (29er) and E-160 (275) fitted me well. But the medium my wife (5’6”) felt too small.

Look at the geo and compare the Reach, Seat Tube length, TT, etc to your current one

Not sure about the MTBs but one size down from normal is the way with their gravel/hybrid/road bikes

I'd be more concerned about which euro vision colour it comes in.

Can you sit on one? I wouldn’t spend £6k on a bike without a demo 😳

You can make a small bike bigger but not a big bike smaller. I always err smaller

Whyte sizing seems quite extreme in that they are very short for the length of dropper you can get in.

I had a T-130 but sized down to a medium as I could only get a 125mm dropper in but it never felt right even running a monster long stem (85mm) it felt too short. I've got a longer body than legs (not that extreme)

They're all over the place so I don't know these days

The g160 medium was bigger than a g170 Large.

They keep changing and their geometry charts are sometimes wrong. According to their charts the seat tube on my T130 is 20mm shorter than it actually is. I ride a small and am 5ft5 with short legs.
