[#7889767]

Just looking at a couple of Whyte 29er on the bay and was just wondering if there had been any geometry changes between the years.

The ones on eBay are 2014.

Cheers.

Steve

As far as I am aware they stayed fairly similar for a while (possibly since they were released) until this year when they got longer, lower and slacker.

Hope that helps.

As per Cows & Clink, the 2015 large is no bigger than the L Parkwood, you'd (I) want a large 2016 for a longer TT, rumors says next years 629 will be nicely spec'd

Cheers for that, its the reach and stack Im trying to find out !

The Parkwood has quite a short reach with a 630mm effective top tube?

Will be able to confirm once I've seen the 2017 bikes in the flesh, but expect more of the same geometry wise and better specs for 2017 HT's I've been hinted at.

Regarding the 29ers, frame geometry was the same from about 2012-15, then for 16 they shortened the seat tubes and lengthened the top tubes on each size. My 2016 629 is a medium, with 17.5" seat tube and 625mm ETT. The 2015 version had an 18.5" seat tube and a 615mm ETT. I'd expect the 2017 geometry to be the same but as yet, can't confirm.

Will be at the Whyte 2017 release on July 4th, where everything will be revealed in full...

Im currently down the Falklands mate so calling is a bit difficult.

Do you reckon the prices for the 2017 bikes are likely to rise by much?

If not do you think its worth holding out for a 2017 629?

Staying the same so I'm told.

If not do you think its worth holding out for a 2017 629?

Given what has been hinted to me so far, and that you're out of the country right now, and that the new 2017 bikes will be in the shops inside a couple of months... Yes...

Just been to the 2017 launch today... Exciting stuff!

The new 629 is genuinely going to be a massive sales success I'm betting. It's got longer/lower/slacker in the same vogue as the 9 series 650b hardtails, comes with 1x11, tubeless wheels and tyres, 120mm fork with 15mm axle and stealth dropper routing (though no dropper, but hey, it's under £1k!). Geometry is quoted as 66.5 HA, 74 SA, 305mm BB height, 440mm stays, and they're coming with 50mm stems fitted. Oh and tyre clearance has improved too, a 2.25" Crossmark looks almost lost in there, a 2.4" Ardent would go in I'm sure...

I like Whyte, some really solid bikes in recent years, decent prices too.
That 629 you describe sounds ideal for most of the riding I do.
