Trying to flog a large trance x frame - only 3 months old, with lots of bits included (Easton carbon post etc)

Not even a sniff of interest. Don't want a lot for it either!!

I'd buy it if it was smaller and I didn't already own one.

Because most people on here want things that are worth £XXX for about 20p & you're obviously wrong for thinking it's worth any more 😉
(possibly)

Or could just be that not much is selling well at the moment, I've been having similar problems with some rare car bits I've got for sale, have only been offered a fraction of their supposed value.

From searching your posts, you've been trying to sell it here for 1 whole day?

I think this thread may not be justified...

No, but it's a good way to advertise it on the main forum for those people who don't look at the clasiflids...

I'd be interested if it was medium and I didn't have an Anthem.

Price seems good to me, give it a bit of time and advertise elsewhere too.

I was really interested interested until I read it again send realised it said Trance X not Anthem X.
I suspect that's may be the isse as the trance have always been an odd fit between the Anthem and Reign. Good luck

What my learned friend said. Took me several attempts to sell a Fuel EX frame and then after it had gone I had 2 or 3 people asking after it! Such is life, but you'll defo need more than 1 advert, but don't spam the board every 24 hours, just every few days or maybe leave a weeks gap and ting.

A Giant is not niche enough and for the same price, why, I could buy Hora's ass. I know which one I'd rather ride.

Only every 24 hours would seem to be a good starting point 😆

I wonder if people do use the search function on classifieds, I mean if you put up an ad with the right title but also a few other useful references in the tag list, would anyone looking for a frame like that actually find it? Or would they even bother looking?

I have had emails about stuff on classifieds 2-3 weeks after i posted it including a frame (which indeed sold to that truffle-hunting person for what I was asking for it).

If it's worth a few grand you'll have no problem getting that for it.

See psychle's ebay thread.

A bike in only "worth" what people will pay for it.
A bike owner can point to the manufacturers’ price but the manufacturer doesn't need to sell a single model in a certain colour and a certain size ASAP. The classifieds forum has a lot of people wanting something for nothing but it also has a lot of people wanting what they simply are not going to get.

That is a very nice bike and build. Problem is alot of people are Gear Queers (fashionistas) and its currently (always been)fives and Alpines thats taken over from the Patriot. The ST4- where is it now? Is that popular or now ditched by the fashion-crowd.

Who offered you £300 for the frame?!!!

£300 is obviously taking the pee, but the chances of finding someone that wants your bike in your size means that when they find you they will want to play you off against everyone else selling similar bikes, including folk who paid a lot less than full retail and don't mind sucking up a bigger percieved losss. You might have paid a few grand to build it, but..... I would expand your market (and indeed what you get in money for it all) by offering to split: I usually upgrade/replace frames, forks and wheels separately.

I've had it on e-bay a few times but always ended up taking it off as I'm not paying e-bay £60 or whatever it is they want to list it with a reserve

Its such a nice bike, and I really don't want to sell it, but needs must

I worked out what the bike would cost to build up from used parts and its still more than what I'm asking, and I have built it using a complete new drivetrain, front and rear mechs, chainset, cassette, shifters, handlebars, grips, seatpost, goodridge shifter cables, pedals, saddle...

hopefully someone will see its not the usual hammered, 6 year old patriot you see on e-bay

Personally I'd break it up and sell separately. Builds are highly subjective - even if yours is well thought out for the bike etc.

People tend to be able to afford a frame and build up but not a whole bike.

I'd want to pay less than that for a second hand Giant full sus.
No warranty is a big problem on a full sus so drastically reduces the value.
Also I assume you bought the Giant as a full bike so the frame is effectively not worth anywhere near as much as the manufcaturers would like to sell you it at as a stand alone.

I was once looking for a second hand Turner Burner but any that came up were wanting a silly high price and subsequently didn't sell. I did offer on a couple but was turned down. I'd have turned me down too ;0)

Hora always buys frames that are too small for him. Which results in him looking even more like a clown than he would do anyway. All he needs is a red nse. TO sit underneath his benny hill glasses

Its handy though. As I'm a a bit shorter than him, they're perfect for me when he sells them. After a week 😀

frame only is a lot! When i bought it as a full bike i sold all parts and made £550- this meant that to me the frame was work £550 also. 11 weeks riding - now eqates to frame being worth £350 to me inc the parts included (this includes an EC70 carbon seatpost, front mech, 2 mech hangers (£12 each), seal kit for rear shock) so in reality i am asking £300 for the frame with seat clamp and headset.

If it was a Medium and I'd broken mine I'd buy it without second thought. It's an absolute bargain price for a great riding trail bike (barely used but a third the price of a new one).

Stick a 140mm fork on a TranceX and it's barely different from a Reign, but lighter, IMO.

£1100 brand new then ?

so halve that as per rule of thumb for 2nd hand, unwarrantied stuff (maybe a bit more as it's pretty new). Let's say 800 value if you're lucky

550 for the bits, 250 for the frame

I suppose for the frame and headset/seat clamp £300 is fair

then add in 2 mech hangers that cost £12 each - £24,
one seal kit for a fox rear shock that cost £10,
plus 2 spare shock bushes £5,
plus a front mech worth about £12 also
= £51

So £350 for that lot is fair enough imo.

The formula isn't quite right for Giant because the frame-only price is typically more of the whole bike price. E.g. TranceX4 £1500 and TranceX frame is £1000.

buzz, that's just a ****off price because they'd prefer to sell built bikes - doesn't mean they're worth 1000.

Certaily used to be the case that all levels of trance bikes had the same frame. I wanted a frame a few yr ago and was cheaper to buy a whole bike from Pauls than a frame would've been on its own
