Especially when I have just fitted a new axle bearing, pawls and springs and the plastic spacer bush thing. This is the first time out since I replaced all this stuff and its really noisey...

I only ever had that problem when the nylon bush in the free hub was worn.

I used a hubdoctor kit (from the states)

I know you say you have replaced them; I am not too sure what else it could be 🙁 sorry.

The freehub axel maybe a bit worn, The hub doctor people do a .3 version (I think it is slightly bigger) this might help.

The freehub is supposed to be filled with oil, not grease. Could that be it?

Thanks Z11.. i used the rogue mech facetube vid to do the work. I have a .3 oversize nylon bush... will see if it settles as there is no play in the hub.. and oil it is indeed....

Thanks. A good read.

I've used a Hubdoctor kit too. Does the job and it even cheaper than buying a new hub body (which you have to do if the nylon bushing is worn). The hub doctor fits over the nylon bushing so the hub body contact runs on bearings, rather than that crap bushing.

I had the old dreaded 'death squeal' high in the Alps a few years ago. Think I scared most of the marmots in the area.

had this problem on my crossmax when i changed my bearings. i also thought it was a worn bush thing, and mine is worn but it turned out not to be this.
Turned out i had some crap/greae in either my bush or one of the pawls, after another good clean out with using a different thin oil the mental loud noise went.

I bought a kit from the States too, pawls, springs, standard and .3 oversize bush and a end bearing. Tthe duty nearly cost more thn the friggin kit...

Cleaning and oiling going on right now...
