[Closed] Why are floating rotors so expensive?

I fancied swapping the rotors on my guides to floating rotors (primarily because I am a shallow tart and like the look).

Why on earth are the Sram Centreline X floaters so bloody expensive? The cheapest I found 180s was £45 an end but their list is supposedly £60! Hope V4 vented rotors are £90 (down from 100) in 203mm guise.

I know expensive stuff is expensive (blah blah) but are they really that much better than the Superstar or Uberbike equivalent at under half the price?

Other than looking flash would I even notice the difference from a one piece rotor? (I suspect I know the real answer to this)

I think once you're selling snake oil, by definition it's mugs buying it so you might as well charge more. Probably the more you charge the more effective they are. Hope and Formula ones aren't just expensive, they're also kind of shit.

because they are a gimmik to appeal to the vain. My ice-tech rotors were cheaper than the superstar/uberbike ones.

IF they are actual floating rotors then there's an awful lot more goes into making them than a standard rotor.
Very few are though away from motorcycles.
