Lets make it a Le Mans style start as well! Bring the chaos! 😈
Its not about speed.
It can be. I like speed.
TINAS - I'm up for that 🙂
no, my knees too ****ed to run, i just have to use the piles of falen riders as doubles to get to the front!
we'll find out if/when i step up to expert later this year dougalPresumptuous yoof
pppffffftttt, application pending (seeing how the 1st couple of the season go!)
I can't speak. I am the picture of racing chubbiness at the minute.
fat biffer with yer 34" waist *shakes head
The usual hare and tortoise speed or stamina replys. There is a saying that goes something like. A young bull says to the old bull lets run down the field and shag one of the cows. The old bull replies lets walk down and shag the lot!! For me slow and steady is alot more satisfying.
34 waist? I'm more of a racing snake than you then Rolf 🙂 A trim 31 wait here. Its that diet of champions I adopt
29" here 🙂
I'm honoured to have been nominated, but certainly not at the moment!
Will Simmons lurked on here, he's been very quick in the past, and has threatened to come back! George Budd certainly used to crop up (Gee), he's bloody fast, although I should be as quick as him when I've actually done some speed work... Dunno if Ben Thomas ever comes on here, he's an Elite now.
Sure there's some very fast not racers too frankly!
[ big head ] I am fairly confident I'm one of very few members to have won an NPS race though, even if it was only Sport [ /big head ]
me 🙂
sport?
you look like 12 there njee 😀
34" waist my arse. I'm a 31 and not a smidge more.
Surely its not about being the fastest rider. Surely its about being the best all round rider? I would class myself as a good all round rider. I ride quite a few cycling disaplines from road time trials, to MTB xc races to trials riding. I am even racing my BMX on Sunday! As I get older speed doesnt matter to me so much. Its more about the enjoyment and the skills development. I am really in to my jumping at the moment. I just like to ride bikes.
Matt
Shaggy's a bit good isn't he?
I'd stand a chance in fastest to 10 pints race but that's about it.
Will used to be very quick. He seems to have chucked in racing though.
BTW nick, I don't think you are the only member to have won an NPS sport race 😉
He said.. one of very few
I've been told I'm well hung by a lot women and some married women.
Modelled underwear too.
Do I win? 😈
[ big head ] I am fairly confident I'm one of very few members to have won an NPS race though, even if it was only Sport [ /big head ]
[bigger head]I bet I've won more national/international level events than you though 😉 [/bigger head]
Aaah yes, Mr Cockburn, a definite Elite rider among our ranks 🙂
Not 12 in that shot, 20, I do still look about 12 though!
Surely its not about being the fastest rider.
It's what I asked.. Best all-round rider or most diverse rider is another thread 🙂 I was mainly curious as to how many serious racers there are, and how many expert/elites there are.
I'd be doing well in Expert or Master if I didn't have 10kg of spare lard 🙁
Well there's definitely 3 experts: Me, Gee and Oli Y, and one Elite: ac282
So, a reasonable number of 'serious' racers. Aracer's obviously no slouch either!
Aracer's obviously no slouch either
Not as fast as you guys on a bike, but pretty good at some other stuff too (but then you knew that?)
slight hijack - have you seen Steve James' results at the Gorricks? How quick is that boy (because he is barely a boy after all)?
i'm currently still sport nick (junior last year) but if the 1st few races go well, i'll see if bc will let me move to expert.
up to 3rd cat on the road now, so i can race the easter 4 day!
and bikey thats true,
even when it goes to all round riding, i'd say i'm quite good there (up till now others have said i'm good).
with rather quick tt times, and decent road racing results etc, then being as quick downhill as up. going out jumping one day, then racing xc the next is what keeps it interesting.
oh, and jcromton is expert as well
Jojo?
I was top ten junior in NPS races circa 1947. Max Glaskin and Jeremy Torr for goalposts....
I'd like to be considered for fastest Veteran.

SB
Eh up SB. Forgotten about you 🙂
Goodtimes!
dont forget me nick ....im expert for 09 too ;)(but will be bottom of the pack .....not been on a bike for 6 weeks ! )
oli , just move and be done with it .... everyone that waits till season starts doesnt get to move till the next season !
matt page is on here sometimes .... hes gotta be up there.....
so not me in either category!
29" thin pah you big lardy...
Last 3/4 I bought (on minx) was a 28" you lot need to stop pies 😉
Plus being fast never was on fashion.
Qu va piano va sano he va lentano (spelling?)
I was 13th in 1982(ish) NBMXA standings, when I was about 12.
Me but only when chasing meta 5.5s on my rigid ss down inners (ah how i miss that thread from so long ago)
me... i once did a skid that lasted for two weeks!!
i once did a skid that lasted for two weeks!!
Rad to the power of sick!
What about Stratobiker?
Ah yes, sorry Terry, forgot you too! Oh well, you can take Oli's place in Expert! Who's JCromton then?
Incidentally Oli, they're very unlikely to let you move up mid-season, and frankly I wouldn't bother anyway! Unless you absolutely storm the first couple of NPSs in Sport I'd stay put.
I was 7th fatest youth in Scotland in 1996. I would beat Gareth Mongomery at every race! (although I was a year older and he was about a quarter of the size he is now).
That's still quite a claim to fame!
Expert here too. There is a few others I know of, but they like to stay subtle.
I hold the race record for ten under the Ben*
*In my category - veterans mixed tandem 🙂
Expert is my goal. Even tho I'm now too old anyway.
There's loads of Masters in Expert and Elite, particularly with how masters is now, Expert's slower!
My money is on njee20 as fastest in xc.
Dave Farmer is on the site as well and he is fast too.
Dunno about DH.
