do i got for the SS (32:18), steel, 130mm revelations - fun...
rohloffed scandium 80mm 29er race bike?
the ss is fun, but not sure what the hills are like in the alps - i do ok in scotland, but now and again i do find it a bit frustrating, esp on technical climbs. however, the kula is obviously a race bike - great up, but a bit hair-raising on the downs..
which would you take?
(this is assuming my lbs get round to replacing the rohloff part which they agreed to back in october...)

Big hills = Gears, IMO!
🙂
Your 5" geared full-sus which you're clearly not telling us about 😉
big hills, 130mm travel over 80?? 8)
if only kit...
29er - mine was fab on big 'ills and I didn't miss the 5"-6"+ of travel the mags (and many others) would have us think we *need*
Hence me choosing a 4" FS as a replacement...
got yourself in a right pickle. you need another bike.
just explain to 'her' bikes are like shoes - you need ones for all different occasions.
A mate rode the Borrowdale Bash route on his SS (32:16) and made it up all the hills*
I'm sure you'll be fine on either bike, both will cope with most stuff there. Keswick MTB have decent hire bikes available if you want and you may eb able to wangle a demo bike off somewhere like BikeTreks, Ambleside maybe.
*up the point where he fell off on Castle Crag and required the services of 20 Mountain Rescue chaps and a big yellow hekelopter....
I live here and ride ss32-18
neither
lol @ Kit 😆
