Last year I ended up replacing both tubes after blasting through some thorns 😳 so hoping not to repeat that.
Probably just a local XC blast, don't wanna risk the hungover stressed out idiots on the road.
me and the gf are planning on spending a couple of hours up around rivi at some point during the day, yeah.
Depends how tense it gets between my wife and my mother. Might need to take kids out to check over their new bikes....
I am......to work.
See what the mornings weather is like. Thoroughly unpleasant here at the moment!

I was going to suggest that the roads are quiet on Xmas day (hence last year I went for a unicycle ride on roads I wouldn't normally ride that on), but then I remembered I did once have an altercation with a small bloke in a car on Xmas day - actually the only time I've ever had somebody step out of a car. I was told that I didn't help that I laughed at him when I saw how little he was and wanting to square up.
GF and I are spending it on our own this year and will probably pop over to Leith Hill for a couple of hours.
Only on the road bike, but yes.
Two days you really have to train, christams and your birthday
I wish, staying with the whole family, having left my family of bikes 50 miles away. There may be blood spilled this festive period. 👿
Hopefully get out on the road bike with the GF- the joys of having Xmas by ourselves 🙂
Half hoping to get a lap of Swinley Forest bike trail tomorrow morning before my Sister's tribe surfaces. I have my bike. I live in hope.
Quick blast on the road in the morning.
I shall be riding from West London through central London and over to Sarf London to my sister in laws on xmas day
Ill be riding to my Grandads grave and back, taking the 50 mile scenic route, there and back is only 20
Hopefully
Buzz - I will be out 6.15 for a blast of blue before kids wake up. If you see me on an orange 69er say hello 🙂
yep, son has new xc bike so we are tootling from ours, around Eskdale, wasdale and mitredale, then dinner at friends home.
Me & OH will be out delivering presents by bicycle tomorrow 🙂
Hope to escape for a couple of hours in the morning, borrowing my Dad's road bike as Christmas is 'away' this year.
Yep,
GF and I doing a local loop, taking some mulled wine for part way round, (it's her birthday as well..)
then home for roast goose for two...cannot wait!!!!,
Local loop with a mate and meeting the wife and the dog with a flask at the top of the hill 🙂
I'm going for a 5 mile run along the beach instead.
Can't beat it really.
Nope I'm off which is rare so spending it with me wife and kids, probably be working the next few years so it's my last chance for awhile to enjoy it.
Will be down the FOD and will be able to park in the proper car park for a change 😆
Absolutely 🙂 I'll be out on the road bike before dawn - I find it the most serene and reflective ride of the year, so have made a habit of it in recent times. Probably only be out for an hour, but I've been looking forward to it for yonks. Which given my general meh feeling towards Christmas is no bad effort.
MoreCashThanDash - MemberDepends how tense it gets between my wife and my mother. Might need to take kids out to check over their new bikes....
I know what you mean MCTD, it's like walking along a tightrope.
Hope to get out for an hour in the morning for a bimble around Delamere.
Yup. Vowed to at least cycle the 20 mile 'hilly by our standards' route for a lunchtime beer in Oxford.
And 20 miles to the folks' house on Boxing Day.
Yup!
Road ride up the scenic Conwy valley in the morning on my own - a time to just appreciate how lucky I am to be healthy and live in such a beautiful place.
Mountain biking fun in the afternoon with my BF - playing around on Conwy mountain and keeping warm with some mulled wine 🙂
Sometimes it's good to not fit in with the 'norm'!
Whatever you're doing, wishing you all a happy Christmas 🙂
Yep, will be out armed with home made soup and Schnaps...
Usually go out for a local blast, but this year I'm loaded with a cold that I'm hoping to shift for a bigger ride on the 27th so think it's best to remain indoors and relax.
Out on local trails whilst wending my way to Huddersfield Crematorium with the wife - Respects paid to the dear departed before coming home and counting our blessings by entertaining the rest.
My turn to choose this year, so Roddlesworth Woods and Darwen Tower for us - with a picnic at the tower 😀
Jammy ****ers !! I had surgery yesterday afternoon for golfers elbow so won't be even looking at my bike for a couple of months . Bah humbug !
Nope - Christmas day is all about family for me, not riding!
10 mile run.
I've just been out for a night ride so I can spend Christmas at home.
Yep - short 2 hour blast on the roadie before breakfast, then we'll crack on with present opening when my sister and her fiancé arrive. Quietest day of the year, it's positively a pleasure to be out on the road 🙂
Defo. Dalby 1st thing then pop across to Swaledale for an 18 miler from Reeth, inc Fremington, Langthwaite, The Moon, Gunnerside & so on...
Not.
Hour on the new roadie before people get round ours I reckon.
Not on Christmas day but was planning to ride on Boxing Day whilst the boss had a lie in but the front brake on the Rune has died. The master cylinder in the lever is not returning and as it's a Shimano XT jobbie no chance of striping it down.
Have just ordered a replacement from CRC in the Hope that it'll land on Saturday.
Those who are riding, you lucky so and so's.
Yep,going to try to get out on the road in the morning if the weather is a little nicer. I'm going to go for a 3 hour bimble, no heart rate monitors, no big hills, so real effort...just going to try to enjoy it for a change
🙂
hopefully......wether looks pish though! 🙁
Boxing day for me while the hubby goes to his mother's for another meal. I'm autistic so socialising one day a year and being happy is quite enough thank you!
Going out round Billinge woods and Witton park 🙂
Caz xxx
quick 10-15 miler locally,Then home, shower,Open pressies with missus and kids, then at my parents for some food..then more pressies, and eating and drinking...Merry xmas everyone
Hopefully, yes. Ideally nice and early before all the idiots take to the roads.
Weather is abysmal at the moment though. 🙁
I went for a quick 30km road ride round Pendle hill (600m or so of climbing) this afternoon, and will probably do a loop up road the other direction on Boxing Day - still only 45km or so - checking out what the riding is like round my parents new house.
Local 15 minute blast in the morning to make room for Turkey and ale 😀
rode to work (17 miles) at 530am this morning, does that count?
Just about to go out on the road bike for a lazy 20 miles on the Bath Bristol railway path .I did get 30 in last night as well though
Get ready to head out for a couple of hours 8)
mrs swiss still in scratcher so away out for a quick bit of road now
I'm gonna leave it an hour or so, just been out with one of the dogs and its impossible to walk to the footpaths due to ice so ended up walking in the road but even that's slippy at the edges.
Enjoyed an hour out on the road bike before dawn. A wee bit nippy but very peaceful and pleasant nonetheless, back for breakfast and presents - all done! Merry Christmas 🙂
Went out early on the road for an hour and got back just as it was getting light. Loverly and quiet with clear sky and frost.
Don't know why I don't do it more often this time of year.
Just got back from a very wet hour sliding around the local woods
A pleasant 15 mile round trip to Oxford on roads and towpath, just cleaned the hybrid. Ready for a shower then down the pub for my first ever Christmas day on my own! 8)
Cycle over to my family's big day tomorrow, parents, brother and his wife and kids. Yay.
Got 10 miles or so in on the roadie in between booking and taxiing duties. Quite nice.
I did a couple of hours round Mamil Central (Richmond Park) first thing. It was actually really nice early on; families out walking, kids playing on new bikes/scooters, some of the joggers and dog walkers were wearing Santa hats and some people were calling "Merry Christmas!" to passing cyclists.
It was genuinely heart warming.
Then it started getting busy with moron drivers so I left. 🙂
Well that ride has been freezing and it's sent the gunge out of my nose back into my left ear so I've now got muffled hearing on that side.
Really enjoyed it though, stayed off the roads as the couple of short sections I did had drivers behaving like its national be an idiot day.
Quick blast around the local cycle track (Greenway in Letchworth) trying to beat my PB for the route on my Fireline Ti 29er. Did it in 58mins odd - a couple outside my PB but had lots of big puddles, mushy leaves and a headwind for part of it.
I feel much better after eating all those chocolates (Terries segments!) last nigh & ready for the turkey........
Quick 1hr15 blast on the CX bike, sun did come out but very wet here and blowing a bloody gale, should be better tomorrow.....
Did an hour and half on road bike. Beautiful weather, sunny and just hint of breeze.
Nice 2 hour blast to the inlaws for lunch 🙂
short 25m loop on the winter road bike .before helping to do chrimmy lunch for 9.all over now chill with a few beers. 😆
Presents delivered by bicycle, beer & a free dram in local club, now for snooze infront of the TV
Done.
Short spin along the banks of a slightly swollen River Severn 🙂
I got a nice steady 25 miles in on the winter roadie earlier. Beautiful sunny day with just a tad too much in the way of headwind.
If I could have one thing for Christmas, could you all so calling road bikes "roadies" 😡
Lazy lie in this morning (just me and the GF so it's allowed!), got up, went and collected her car from town (few ciders in town last night and walked home), came home, prepped the Turkey, got into cycling gear, then out for a 2hr spin round the local canals.
Did 16 miles at a leisurely pace, in lovely sunshine, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Just pulled the Turkey out the oven, and about to do the veg, then tie to get stuck in and back on the cider too! 😀
This is what Christmas is about, not pretending to tolerate lots of people you see only once a year just cos you happen to be related to them...
The rest of the family wanted a walk and I wanted to ride so we went over Clent. I rode up and down a fairly big hill lots of times in the hour and a half I had and found lots of cool, steep trails. So I'm happy.
And I'll be out on the winter roadie for some more smiles again tomorrow too. Want to bring your roadie round for a blast, Al?
17 mainly off road miles around marple way... Mulled wine half way round then home for a dinner for two....
She's fast asleep now!!!! Very nice day,
