Currently putting together a route towards Bakewell / Monsall head and spotted this bridleway down Deep Dale...

Anybody ridden it recently? Likely to be a bog fest? Any good?

Also has anyone walked down either of these two footpaths? Do they make for good walking...? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I walked down it a few years back and vowed never to ride it in winter. It will be gloop and cow pats

Cheers, is it worth looking at in good weather, or is it always poop?

Any idea on the less legit trails?

I'd leave it until Spring/Summer if I were you. Not sure about the footpaths

Hmmm... back to the drawing board. Not easy to find a bog-free ride in the white peak this time of year... ๐Ÿ˜†

Maybe its worth looking at the footpaths through the woods then. Theres got to be something interesting with that gradient... unless its just steps ๐Ÿ™

There are a lot of steps in them there woods

Get over Hollinsclough way if you want some White Peak riding that won't be all gloop. Some tough (albeit short) downhills over there and you can link it up with 3 Shires Head which tends to stay ride-able in the wet. Search my posts for more info 'cos I'm back to work in a mo' so won't be able to provide more detail.

I've done the Matlock / Rowsley / Bakewell area to death, so I might go for a look at Hollinsclough as suggested. Ridden round 3 shires head before, so I'm sure I can cobble something together. Cheers for the suggestion.

Thats just below where I live. Ridden it a few times and it's not the greatest but if you use the cheeky singletrack through the woods then it's amazing.

It's not steps in the wood but it is steep to start with going up

Hi Shorty121, which of the bits through the woods is the amazing singletrack?

Bump for Shorty121!

Guess it might be worth an explore in those woods then. Sounds like a Saturday morning excursion...

Have you done Black Rocks/Shining Cliff/Crich Chase? If not it may be worth getting a local to show you around.

There isn't anything to ride around there. Honestly it's rubbish. Not worth even trying it... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yep know all the Ambergate and surrounding area trails. And the more obscure stuff like Lumsdale, Halldale, 3 reservoirs at Two Dales, Stanton Moor, Clough Wood, Masson Hill. Been meaning to get an OS map for Belper area and get exploring around there.

Anywhere else you can suggest? (email in profile to discuss cheeky stuff!) ๐Ÿ™‚

For anyone interested...

Going back to the OP, I explored the trail marked as 'FP2 clicky' at the weekend and it was steep in places, rocky and VERY slippery. Would be a cracking descent in the summer though.

I can also confirm that there is some sweet singletrack in those woods. Links nicely onto the Monsall Head cheek... ๐Ÿ™‚
