Winter is coming.. and my old ebay special battery + light combo is dead, so I need something to replace it with. I'd ideally like :

wide beam pattern
good bar mounting (ie, doesn't slip round on the first bump)
integrated battery to minimise faff
2 hours runtime on 'bright'
bright-ish - I'm not someone who needs a billion lumens - this will be used in combo with a helmet mounted mk5 joystick - something similarly bright (ignoring lumen count) would be fine

I'm fine with some dodgy import, or something a bit more branded - cheaper = better 🙂

My Lezyne Macro Drive 800XL is wide beam and fits that bill. I prefer more of a spot, so it annoys me a bit, but if you want a flood it could be good. There are different battery sizes and brightnesses to suit budget.

Having said that I want longer run times, but if you only need two hours you can leave it on max turbo mode which is plenty bright enough even as a flood.

Road or off road? Road I'd just go to the Rose website and pick one, offroad Mtbbatteries Lumenator.
Edit OK, not integrated, but bloody good light and very little faff.

offroad - I'd looked at the mtb batteries jobbies but they're not integrated which I prefer. In the end I found an 800XL brand new on ebay for a snip (£30) so I've gone down that path. Thanks for the help 🙂

Have a look at GACIRON, chinese brand with plenty of good feedbacks

I guess you'll be happy with 1000 lumens, but they also made a double beam at 1600lm

Last year I ran a nitenumen x8 also called an evolva, it was about £30 and was an all in one job. The mount it came with was a crap rubber mount thing but easily fixed with a qr mount instead.

It lasted for my 2hours ish night rides a couple of times a week, last winter and is doing ok so far this year when needed.
