Just prepping my sled 😉 for the Dyfi Winter Warmup on Sunday, connected shock pump to the fork, and it just let all the air out and wouldn't put any back in.
Had a fiddle and it seems that it puts air in if the gauge is removed, so clearly the gauge bit is foobarred. It's a fairly old WrenchForce pump.
I've pumped the forks up so they feel ok, but can't see what pressure, so a new pump required.
What's the current bomb with the unwashed jeans wearing cognoscenti?
I bought a £15 300psi one from either Decathlon or Halfords (fairly sure it was the former). It's just a few uses old but it seems quite ok quality.
I still have a posher Specialised one that works but it has one of those faffy flappy lever things on the connector and I find that irritating for no proper reason. It's not helped by the fact that the release button for letting air out of the shock is also just where I want to hold the pump.
Beto. Because they work and they're cheap. (they come with different brands on but it's all the same)
My topeak one comes with a nice "no loss" valve on it.

Took the plunge and bought a digital one. Was surprised at how far out our Rockshox ones were.
Just because it's digital doesn't mean it's calibrated 😉

Unless a gauge comes with a certificate of calibration and is recalibrated at regular intervals, it's just as likely to be 'out'.
Any pump pressures should be taken as being such; the thing to do is use the same pump, consistently. That way the numbers you noted will still be useful in the future. You shouldn't really expect a different pump (even if same model etc) to give the same reading as the one you have.
Yep, use the same pump all the time. The digital ones do tend to have a 0.5psi reading so you can fine tune the pressure more consistantly than with a dial.
I have an brand new rockshox pump still in bag if you fancy that.
Bike Radar did a test on them. Well worth the read.
Only mentioned the no loss valve as the topeak has it but my rockshox ones don't and neither does my older Fox one.
Not much has lasted long in our workshop, Fox, Rockshox, Marzocchi, Wrenchforce, Pace, and quite a few frankenpumps put together from their remnants have all had disappointingly short lifespans, apart from my current SKS USP, which seems to be far better made, even coming in it's own padded wooden box, complete with accessories. The downsides are cost of £80(googled, and found one under £55), and a plastic gauge(which has held up fine,though), upsides are it's outlasted god knows how many £25 brand name pumps. They also make a cheaper MSP model at £45 (out of stock for a month, but £28 from CRC), but I can't comment on that as I haven't owned or used one (yet, may try one for home use though).
