[#2065594]

It's going to be a rear SS wheel built with Superstar SS hub, DT Comp 2-Butted spokes and... d521 or x317? I have the former but it's heavier. Will I notice? Or should I split a Hope XC/719 wheel and rebuild it onto the d521 and use the rim on the SS?
I have plenty of time, limited patience and rich swearword vocabulary in several languages. Also proper tea, coffee, biccy and ice-cream.
What would you do?

Just use the XC/719 wheel with a single speed cog and spacers.

you'll notice a step from a 521 to a 317. 719's kind of between the two.

Doesn't really help.

Do you need a 521 due to ridign style/weight. If no then go for the lightest you can get away with. Unless you already have spokes - they might not work with all those rims...

I have the d521 already, brand new and unused. I fancy a rear wheel on it with gears for my 456SS (lack of skill necessitates stronger wheel). The SS will be lightweight (ti frame), but I don't have the rim for it unless I split the existing one. The ERD difference between d521 and 719 is 5mm. Will it matter?

Keep the 719 wheel as it is

Sell the 521 rim

Buy a new 719 or 717 rim.

Doable in the UK, pointless when I'm in Ireland. The 317 is way cheaper than 717 too.

Hoooray! I've just found a WTB/317 wheel with a shagged freehub body. The rim is sorted. What's the length of spokes I'll need? SSC SS hub onto 317 disc rear wheel?

EN521 is about 80 gm each more than 719....teh sort of weight difference that can be found between different inner tubes / tyres! So on a more genarla point if you use a heavier rim you could compensate for this in your choice of inner tube for example

Will probably need to. Is a difference of 2mm anything to be concerned with? Hoping to use the spokes from a toolbox instead of buying them.
