This is the best battery charger on the market. Battery Logic are good to buy from, and their batteries are also good. The beauty of this beast is that it charges slowly, which somehow is good for the battery. Fast chargers burn the batteries out. I don't know the technology but my geekish neighbour does.

Eneloops are great, be careful not to get fobbed off by counterfeits on eBay. There is a LONG thread about decent AA rechargers on Candlepowerforums too if you want to go research.

Eneloops are not the highest capacity in the world, but they actually do live up to the stated capacity, really don't self discharge and have been reliable workhorses through a number of winters for me.

Happy with the Ansmann ones I use. Nice charger (bit expensive though), usefully charges any number of batteries between 1 and 4 as always seem to need just 3 batteries for some childs toy.

another vote for eneloops, not much to match them really.
I have a component shop smart charger in each car, and a top of the range charger (£50) from maplin that displays MAh and other info as it charges. This is also helpful for finding duff cells.
