Now i bet this has peen plugged to high heaven but need to change my rear mech im currently running 10sp set up with sunrace 11-42 rear cassette and 32t narrow wide chain ring looking to get an 11spd mech but unsure on weather i need long or med cage seen

That would be a medium cage in Shimano m8000/7000 mechs.

I'm running with a medium cage mech for that range of cassette. Fine on both the 10spd (XT M781) and 11spd (XT M8000) versions. Both are 1x drivetrains, if you are using 2x then I think Shimano recommend the long cage.
