[#2923630]

I need new black flat pedals to replace my silver Wellgo MG1s as they don't match my new frame.

Are there any pedals about the same price of similar or better quality and nice and light around?

if you can live with dark grey not black then this is the cheapest version of the HT Industries/Superstar/Nukeproof flat pedal which is highly regarded by STWers and the wider riding community (wah wah was a test winner in MBR)

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=kona+wah+wah&_sacat=See-All-Categories

thinner, tougher and grippier than MG1s and light too.

MG1s if you liked them... Nanos if you fancy something a bit thinner but heavier (unless you pay a lot more).

Definitely will be selling once I've decided which ones to replace them with.
When I said silver that's not exactly right, I think they're actually called XTR grey or something like that(so dark silver I guess).

I bought them late last year but haven't ridden them much but the paint doesn't seem to stay on the magnesium all that well, not that they look bad just a little disappointing for £44 pedals. The bearings and feel is as new which isn't surprising given the lack of use.

I really rate the Superstar Nanotech's. I've got the thru pins. They're one of the best lasting things I've got on my bike and are going v. strong after about 18 months. The link's below if you're at all interested.

I've just picked up a pair of the new Nukeproof electrons (black), they're slighly convex which means they're less grippy than the Nanotech's. I like them so far though, less grip isn't a problem. They're light and so far seem quite strong. I'll get some pics and weights up on my site later on.

Good stuff guys, keep the options coming.

I'm a bit of a weight weenie so either the same weight or lighter than the Wellgos. Would like the ti version but £100 for pedals is insane.

I've got FiveTen Impact lows for reference and size 10 feet so a decent size of platform is essential.

Thanks cruzheckler,

They look perfect but are they likely to be the copies that everyone wants to avoid for whatever reason?

The packaging looks legit on those ti ones... TBH if you were a counterfeiter, would you make fake Wellgos or would you make fake expensive pedals?

No real reason but sure I read there were fake Wellgo pedals from the far east on Ebay, so was just a little wary.

I've got the Easton pedals, Flatboys? they're lush, totally right for me. Sticky & con-caved perfectly. don't think that they're particularly light though. No concern to me.

running smooth for 2 years so far...

fake wellgo? thats like fake Tesco Value. Wellgo and HT make half the brand-name pedals on the market (the original DMR V12 was a wellgo pedal). The ~60 quid Ti axled ebay Wellgos are legit and just not marked up by UK/Euro suppliers.

I really rate flatboys (have em on the big bike) but they are heavy (~550grms, not far off twice the weight of an Mg1-Ti for the same sort of money) and you say that is a consideration.

The superstar nano thru pin is the same pedal as the wah wah for a tenner more.

Wellgo V12 copies for me. Mine are the cheapest unsealed ones and they've lasted me years, been on about 3-4 different bikes over about 6 years maybe?

I had a go on someones bike with those nukeproof thin pedals and they felt so weird, they have an odd lump in the middle that does feel very wrong.

Kona Wah Wahs are very nice, but obviously available in various other guises. The white ones look especially good.

£27 on CRC, have two sets and they are still running now years later. Ace pedals without a stupidly high price.

+1 on the B-54s they've become my default choice since Azonic stopped making A-Frames
