I need a new one. I don't need the rings- I'll be selling them on here.
I think I'd like to keep it a cheap as possible (<£80)- maybe using my Chain reaction £10 to help....
A few choices- shimano deore, raceface ride DH and raceface ride xc...
Opinions and other suggestions would be lovely please.
Shimano SLX Double + bash.
Why sell the rings?
On second thoughts, yeah sell em! I've got a good supply of dirt cheap chainrings, but I'm always looking for more. £20-£25 is the going rate for a set of Deore 🙂
I don't need the rings because I run 1x8.
Think SLX is a bit pricey.
Oh, yeah. Sorry! I thought they were cheaper than that.
I can recommend the Deore ones: I have them on my new hardtail and they seem really nice. However, the Deore writing on them has started to wear off already, only after a couple of short rides; if that sort of thing bothers you.
This reply was for Southersteel.
Ahhh but it's Sooo Good! You can probably get one for 99 squid. I have an indestructable Hope BB, so the SLX bb just went straight into my spares box where it remains. The cranks are also indestructable and have a very durable finish, so all I need is new rings occasionally.
With all the short-lived rubbish out there, it's great to find some good stuff available! 😀
I'm sure there are links to cheap cranksets from germany on here somewhere.
Have a look on merlin, there may be some truvativ or FSA's that might suit as an alternative to those you mention
Just bought a Deore chainset for my hardtail. £58 from Merlin for a beautiful bit iof kit. Ok it's not SLX XT etc but it seems better than my older XT set on my full suss. Long live trickle down.
2nd hand XT usually comes in around £50

or look in the 10sp category for the latest models
Thanks all. Reckon I'll get the cheap deore from merlin.
