Now the Niner has been sold , looking at couple of options for the next steed , either new Surly karate monkey 27.5+ or Singular Swift in 27.5+ guise , can't decide !!!

Neither, steel is heavy and you can't feel the spring with 3" tyres. Buy a Loki. I love my Loki. Ummm... Loki..
But the new Krampus does look ace. If only it was carbon. Or alu. Or ti. Or lighter steel..

As a long time steel hardtail advocate I agree with the above, the 3" tyres on my fuse provide much more comfort and make it able to take rougher lines than any of my old steel hardtails.
So I think aluminium/carbon is the way to go with plus
